Chapter 923 — The Primordial Creators
The Herdsman of the Wasteland Page 2 of 2
These reliefs recorded scenes of hunting and battle. Shen Mu took them all in: the prehistoric giants understood no Dao arts and cultivated no divine powers; they fought with brute force and powerful bodies, at most holding great bone clubs or simple bronze weapons. To a grand master of Dao arts and supernatural powers like Shen Mu, those battle scenes were naturally beneath notice.
But as he walked deeper into the open-air hall, the reliefs gradually grew more interesting.
Shen Mu stopped before one panel.
It showed a burly prehistoric giant pinching a rhombic crystal between his thumb and forefinger and holding it up toward the sunlight.
"The crystal in this carving is almost exactly the same as the ones set into the brows of the corpses outside! " His heart stirred slightly, and he moved to the next relief. This panel showed the same giant, except that he had now set the rhombic crystal he had found into the middle of his own brow. The other giants knelt before him, prostrating and kowtowing in fearful reverence.
This giant's build appeared far more imposing than the others'. In one hand he held a golden scepter, on his head he wore a horned helmet, and his other hand was raised, pointing forward.
The crystal at his brow emitted a pattern of light. Shen Mu thought for a moment but could not quite understand what it meant.
Qi Jiuyi and the others came over to look at the reliefs. "Sect Master Shen, these are all savage, primitive natives. What is there worth seeing?
" Qi Jiuyi was quite puzzled.
Shen Mu walked to the next relief and said, "It was precisely these primitive natives who created that strange Heavenly Lord and nearly destroyed the Red Emperor's Phoenix Ship. " Qi Jiuyi snorted. Shen Mu gave a soft exclamation as he studied the relief in front of him, a look of surprise on his face.
This panel showed the giant grown even more colossal, and many other giants, just like him, had found the same rhombic crystals from who knows where and set them into their foreheads.
The strange thing in this relief was that the giants with the rhombic crystals all had glowing crystal eyes at their brows. Not only that—Shen Mu saw all kinds of bizarre things within the light!
In some glows there was a prehistoric beast, in others a platter of food, and in still others knives, spears, clubs, staves, and the like. In the third-eye light of some giants there was even a beautiful woman!
"This is.
. .
" Shen Mu stood stunned. Then he took out the crystal he had collected, but it was far too large to place against his brow.
"Sister Yan'er, are you versed in spatial arts?
Can you shrink this crystal?
" Yan'er looked it over and said, "Spatial arts can only make it look smaller. In truth, they compress the space around it and hide it within a mustard seed; they do not truly shrink it. If you wanted to set it into your brow and the spatial art failed, it would burst your head apart!
" Shen Mu laughed. "I only want to hold it in front of my brow and see whether something marvelous happens. " After all, Yan'er had trained under the Moon Heavenly Venerable for many years, and before long she reduced the rhombic crystal to about an inch in length.
Shen Mu picked up the crystal, pressed it to his brow, and tried to stir his primordial qi—the crystal had no effect. Still unwilling to give up, he circulated his qi and blood; still the crystal showed no sign.
He focused his mind; still nothing changed.
"Could this crystal be useless to our human race?
And why did Senior Brother want me to come here? " The thought had barely passed through him when the crystal suddenly blazed with light, and in the light appeared the figure of Wei Suifeng.
Shen Mu blinked.
The instant he cut off the thought, Wei Suifeng vanished from the light. "Could it be. . .
" Shen Mu immediately gathered his concentration, focused his divine sense, and pictured the form of the Heavenly Lord. The crystal blazed again, and in the light a tiny Heavenly Lord emerged!
His heart jolted violently, and he felt the scene he had imagined becoming real through this extraordinary crystal!
When his awareness scattered, the Heavenly Lord in the light vanished at once; nothing was preserved.
"Is it because my divine sense is not powerful enough?
What I cultivate is the Indestructible Divine Sense!
" Shen Mu drove the Indestructible Divine Sense into motion.
This time he visualized the form of Tu Bo.
Light burst from the crystal, casting into being a tiny Tu Bo.
The small Tu Bo in the light grew more and more real, gradually taking on flesh and blood, and before long a palm-sized Tu Bo appeared before them all!
Shen Mu dispersed the Indestructible Divine Sense. The tiny Tu Bo landed on the ground, opened its mouth, and gave a mighty roar—from its mouth came the low mooing of cattle.
The others' hearts quailed; when they heard an ox's bellow coming from Tu Bo, they wanted to laugh but did not dare. "He is not the real Tu Bo.
Go ahead and laugh; there is no need to fear him," Shen Mu said.
Qi Jiuyi said in a trembling voice, "He truly can create things out of the void!
How is that possible? With a mere stone, one can create from the void—could these giants be the creators of the prehistoric age?
" Shen Mu toyed with the crystal and said unhurriedly, "Perhaps they were the prehistoric creators, but their power to create was achieved through this crystal. I just tried it.
This crystal can magnify divine sense many times over. If one's divine sense is powerful enough, one can create things from the void!
Even so, not many people are able to use this crystal to create from the void.
"
