Chapter 968 — The Supreme Domain of Divine Consciousness
The Herdsman of the Wasteland Page 2 of 2
Suddenly Shu Jun's voice came to him, sneering: "Now you know how weak you are, do you not? This heaven and earth is a domain created by the mightiest of the Creators with supreme divine consciousness. All who enter this domain are bound by its rules of the great Dao and become living things within it. Only the Primordial Stone is not changed by this domain."
He was inside the Primordial Stone and so was untouched by the outside; he remained the great head upon the altar, only his head was hollow and empty, with nothing but two eyes.
Shen Mu's heart stirred slightly, and he asked, "How do we break it?"
"You cannot break it."
Shu Jun's great head rose from the altar, flew out of the Primordial Stone, and emerged from Shen Mu's vertical eye. He sneered, "Do you think supreme divine consciousness can be broken by a lowly creature like you? Supreme divine consciousness may trap the likes of you, but it cannot trap an existence such as I! Let me see to what level this Creator has cultivated his supreme divine consciousness!"
The moment he flew out of Shen Mu's eye, his body was changed by this domain, and his head became a great block.
Shu Jun was startled; his two eyeballs flew out of their sockets and became two flying blocks, with a string of blocks behind them still connecting them to the great head.
"Even in my prime I would likely be no match for him. But breaking it is not difficult... Break!"
His mastery of divine consciousness far surpassed Shen Mu's; yet when his consciousness ability flew out, the effect was the same as Shen Mu's—his consciousness became countless transparent blocks dancing through the air.
"This Creator is mightier than I."
Shu Jun immediately wilted and said, "Heh heh, I have not even restored my head, so breaking his supreme divine consciousness is indeed a little difficult..."
He gave two dry laughs and made to fly back into Shen Mu's eye, when suddenly Yue Tingge seized him in his arms, gently stroked his head, and said tenderly, "Good brother, I have finally found you..."
A chill ran through Shu Jun. He hastily sent a consciousness message: "Shen, you little wretch, get this madman off me!"
Shen Mu pretended not to hear, thinking to himself, "Shu Jun may be useful, but the fellow is cunning and forever scheming to stab me in the back. Now that he has left the Primordial Stone, it is actually a good thing for me. I only hope Celestial Master Yue does not kill him—he still knows a great many secrets of the Creators, and their divine abilities. He may even possess cultivation methods better than the Three Enclosures Higher Consciousness..."
Shu Jun sent message after consciousness message, but never received any answer from Shen Mu, and he began to panic.
Yue Tingge tucked him under his arm and continued on his way, saying in a low voice, "That place is almost here. Once we arrive, we can do away with another Heavenly Venerable, heh heh heh..."
Shu Jun could not move, and could only resign himself to his fate.
As they walked, Shen Mu discovered to his horror that Yue Tingge had actually become a paper-thin man!
His features had become paper, his body had become paper—Shen Mu and Luo Wushuang could actually see his eyes, nose, and mouth from behind him!
They could even see the structure of his brain, and his five viscera and six bowels!
He seemed to have become a creature made of a heap of lines, like a moving anatomical drawing!
Not only had Yue Tingge become a paper man—Shu Jun had become a paper head!
Of course, Shu Jun's head was hollow and empty; there was no brain in it.
The mountains, plants, and rivers around them seemed to have become the mountains, trees, and rivers of a painting: the river flowed across the ground, the mountains and plants stood on either side, and the white clouds drifting in the sky were sheets of paper—indescribably eerie.
Shen Mu looked down. As he had expected, he too had become a paper man; lowering his head, he could see his own viscera, every structure of his mortal body, all perfectly clear!
The only thing unchanged was still the vertical eye in his brow.
The Primordial Stone was indeed powerful; it had withstood the invasion of this inconceivable supreme consciousness domain. But their mortal bodies could not withstand it.
"This is different from the Dao of Painting. The Dao of Painting strives to paint a true and real world, whereas this supreme consciousness domain wants to turn us into paintings on paper." Shen Mu blinked and thought to himself.
"Almost there, almost there..." Yue Tingge murmured over and over.
Suddenly he flung Shu Jun to the ground and ran forward, laughing, "Heh heh, come quickly! We are nearly there!"
Shen Mu, Luo Wushuang, and the divine dragon hurried after him, and Shu Jun followed too, his paper great head floating in the air behind Shen Mu. Uneasily he said, "The supreme consciousness domain is growing stronger and stronger. This Creator's strength far exceeds mine when I was alive; I am no match for him at all. We should go no deeper. If we leave now, it should still be in time..."
Suddenly Yue Tingge's body changed again, becoming a flying point of light.
Luo Wushuang and the divine dragon became two points of light as well. Shen Mu looked toward Shu Jun and saw that he too had become a point of light—while he himself had become an eyeball and a tiny point of light.
Yue Tingge flew cheerfully onward and cried, "Look!"
The four points of light flew after him, and then a colossal thing appeared in their field of vision.
One of the points of light suddenly halted—it was Shu Jun. The point of light trembled, his consciousness out of control.
"The... the... the Grand Emperor!" Shu Jun let out a shrill, desolate cry.
