Chapter 983 — The Carefree Land of the Void

The Herdsman of the Wasteland Page 2 of 2

" He could not help but marvel at the wonder of the Creators, that they could visualize such a marvelous house — this was no less remarkable than Heaven Venerable Moon's art of space! "So this is the Carefree Land.

" Shen Mu sensed that this heaven and earth was filled with an exceedingly dense divine consciousness; it must be a world fashioned by the Creators.

But this place had not suffered the dreadful devastation of the Great Void, nor did it possess the Great Void's uncanny terror. It could be called incomparably peaceful. At the slightest stir of his thought, a cup of fine wine appeared in his hand.

Shen Mu drank the wine, tossed away the cup, and the cup vanished into thin air.

"What a strange place.

I did not employ the Great Luo Supreme Divine Consciousness, nor did I use much divine consciousness at all — I merely thought of it, and fine wine appeared. This place is truly incredible!

" Shen Mu could not help but exclaim in admiration, thinking, "Would the people living here not need to labor at all? With a single stir of thought, fine wine and delicate dishes would appear? With a single thought, jade palaces and jeweled towers?

If that were truly so, then this place could well be called the Carefree Land! " That said, to reach the level where whatever one visualized came into being still required a certain attainment in divine consciousness.

Shen Mu's case was chiefly because his cultivation in divine consciousness was too powerful; at a single stir of his thought, the divine consciousness he summoned was already exceedingly formidable, beyond the match of ordinary divine power users. He turned back and closed the door, sat down at the top of the waterfall, and said to himself, "My brother told me to wait here, and Father and Mother will soon arrive.

So I will wait here, and I will absolutely not let my curiosity drive me to wander about! " He set his eyes upon his nose and his nose upon his heart, like an old monk entering meditation. Suddenly a thought surfaced: "Since this place has everything one could wish for, why did Mother say the Carefree Land was incomparably perilous and forbid me to go there?

And the scholar celestial master Yan Yunxi — she too did not want to tell me the whereabouts of the Carefree Land, did not want me to return. " "Just now my brother said that after coming to the Carefree Land he fought every day and ate gods and demons every day. Could the Carefree Land have gone to war with the Creators here? " "Kaihuang came here bearing Heaven Venerable Yun's Geographic Map.

Given the friendship between Heaven Venerable Yun and the Creators, those Creators ought to spare the Carefree Land for Heaven Venerable Yun's sake. So why would they still go to war with the Carefree Land?

" . . .

Thoughts of every kind welled up in his mind, and at once he could no longer hold his meditation.

Just then, he heard a rumbling, booming sound of footsteps. Shen Mu rose at once to look, and suddenly saw an enormous head thrust up from below the waterfall.

The giant's face was turned straight toward him, and the breath from its nostrils formed two gales that set his clothes flapping. Shen Mu's heart tightened. Set into the giant's forehead was an upright diamond-shaped crystal, like a vertical eye at the center of its brow.

This was a Creator! A Creator of such colossal stature must possess unfathomable strength!

"Motu—" The giant spoke, and its voice was like ten thousand thunderclaps exploding at Shen Mu's ear, leaving his ears ringing.

The Creator's face showed anger; it raised a palm the size of a thousand mu of land and made to slap it down upon him!

The two lids at Shen Mu's brow parted left and right, revealing his pupil.

When the giant saw that pupil, it at once withdrew its palm and looked him up and down. A wave of incomparably powerful divine consciousness passed into Shen Mu's mind: "Whose child are you? How old are you?

Why have you come here? " Shen Mu breathed a sigh of relief, and the gooseflesh at the back of his neck subsided. His divine consciousness rippled as he communicated with the Creator: "I am almost two years old. I wandered here by accident, and seeing three houses here, I came over to look.

Senior, to which clan do you belong? " "I am Xiuzhong of the Xiu clan. I sensed a disturbance here, and so I came to investigate.

" The Creator Xiuzhong's divine consciousness rippled as he praised him: "Your divine consciousness is far from weak.

To have such attainment before the age of two, stronger even than the cultivation of grown men. Who is your master?

" "My teacher is Shujun," Shen Mu said honestly.

Within the Primordial Stone in his third eye, Shujun's great head was smug with delight, his two eyes bouncing this way and that in their sockets, and he chuckled: "You little brat, calling me your teacher, taking advantage of me — but I won't hold it against you. Heh heh, you have spoken my name aloud; this Xiuzhong will likely be so frightened he soils himself and kowtows again and again! I am one of the Three Kings of the Primordial Age! " "Shujun? " All three of the Creator Xiuzhong's eyes showed bewilderment.

His third eye was a Primordial Divine Stone, yet like a true eye it could reveal every kind of emotion.

He shook his head: "I have never heard of him. But your divine consciousness is very strong, so he is most likely no nameless figure. This place is very dangerous; villains often prowl here. Come with me, and I will take you to a place of safety. " He stretched out his palm and laid it flat above the waterfall, gesturing for Shen Mu to jump up.

Shen Mu hesitated a moment, somewhat unwilling in his heart.

But at a single stir of the Creator Xiuzhong's divine consciousness, he rose into the air against his will and landed in the giant's palm, and his heart could not help but be appalled.

Xiuzhong's divine consciousness was a thousand times stronger than his own; it brooked no resistance at all, binding him so tightly that even his vital essence could not stir! One must understand that although Shen Mu's present cultivation in divine consciousness was inferior to that of Yan Shaoqing, the Heavenly Court's foremost master of divine consciousness, its quality was higher.

Yet the Creator Xiuzhong's divine consciousness was a thousand times greater than his, and its quality was stronger than Shen Mu's as well. One could well imagine how terrifying this being's divine consciousness must be!

Xiuzhong was likely no ordinary Creator; most likely he was a figure of high rank among the Creators of the Great Void! "You are only two years old — how can you go running about everywhere?

That fellow called Shujun is utterly outrageous, not even fearing that you might be carried off by those monsters. The divine consciousness of those monsters is far stronger than yours.

" Light surged from the Primordial Divine Stone at Xiuzhong's brow, and a great treasure chariot appeared out of thin air.

He brought Shen Mu aboard, and nine giant dragons, each a hundred li long, drew the chariot up into the sky. "If you were to encounter those villains, you would be as good as dead.

" Xiuzhong waved his hand lightly, and the sun set; stars filled the heavens and became a silver river, and the nine dragons drew the chariot joyfully along the Milky Way as he said, "Those villains are utterly unreasonable, and their leader in particular — that bastard called Shen Ye — is savage by nature and insufferably arrogant. " Through Shen Mu's third eye, Shujun saw this scene outside the chariot, and his heart went cold.

He hurriedly sent a divine consciousness message: "You little brat surnamed Shen, you had better be careful!

This Creator's strength is not much weaker than mine in my day! "
