Chapter 1098 — The Blood Imprint Left by the Years

" Cold sweat broke out on Shen Mu's forehead. Back then, when Dahong had fought him inside the treasure carriage, he had been gravely wounded and had nearly died, while Dahong, trapped in the retrograde supreme consciousness domain, had fled with his wounds.

But Shen Mu's final strike had come from the third eye between his brows, an eye that possessed terrifying power, and it had driven the retrograde supreme consciousness domain into Dahong's body. Presumably Dahong had known that this body had exposed his identity, and, struck as he was, had simply abandoned Dahong's flesh.

"Yan'er, let us go on ahead to the Heavenly Court and wait for them!

" Shen Mu said. Yan'er, Dragon Qilin, and the six heavenly dragons at once lifted their lanterns and followed the Heavenly River upward, heading straight for the Heavenly Court.

The battle on the Heavenly River grew ever more savage. As they skirted that battlefield, Shen Mu gazed into the distance and saw that Yin Tianzi had not joined the fight directly, but kept watch outside; he must be preparing to stab the Heavenly Emperor's soul in the back.

"In those years the ancient god Heavenly Emperor instructed Hao Venerable and Yin Tianzi to join hands and assassinate Venerable Yu; who would have thought he would live to see this day himself.

" A smile rose on Shen Mu's face.

The Southern Heavenly Gate drew nearer and nearer, and the anxiety in Shen Mu's heart grew sharper; just then rain suddenly fell from the sky, a fine drizzle pattering down, dyeing Yan'er and the others red.

The rain fell into the Heavenly River, and the Heavenly River too was dyed blood-red, like a river of sky that bled. Shen Mu's heart stirred faintly.

"The Heavenly Emperor is dead. .

. " He looked back and saw the figures of Cloud Venerable and Hao Venerable rushing toward the Heavenly Court; in the instant Cloud Venerable took flight, his features changed and he took on the appearance of Hao Venerable.

Both Venerables were of the Emperor Throne realm; advancing side by side, they passed almost at the same moment over the heads of Shen Mu, Yan'er, and the others, hurtling toward the Lingxiao Hall of the Heavenly Court!
