Chapter 1450 — The Heavenly Palace Descends

The Herdsman of the Wasteland Page 2 of 2

The power of the translocation bridges alone could not move such a colossus into the Ancestral Court in a short time. Nearly every god and man in the Heavenly Court had been sent out, and even so the Heavenly Court advanced but slowly.

The sight was utterly magnificent, utterly grand. When the shadow of the Heavenly Court covered the sky above the Ancestral Court and the shadow slowly grew, the stars above the Ancestral Court lost their color and the sun lost its light.

The very space of the Ancestral Court was squeezed and twisted, and violent tremors spread in every direction through the void!

As the Heavenly Court squeezed into the Ancestral Court, spirit energy gushed from one translocation bridge after another, its radiance clear to every living thing in the Yuan Realm.

That radiance was the spirit energy gushing from the Ancestral Court, the spiritual power and spiritual qi translocated out!

In the Yuan Realm one could see eleven pillars of light made of spiritual qi and spiritual power, the pillars surging, and the vast and mighty energy gathering until, above the Heavenly Court's former site, it slowly formed stars, formed continents, formed world barriers!

One after another resplendent heaven took shape as the Heavenly Court departed, making the place where the Heavenly Court had vanished most gorgeously colorful.

In the Ancestral Court, eleven Heavenly Venerates stood beside their own spirit-energy translocation bridges, gazing up at the sky.

The Heavenly Court was descending into the Ancestral Court little by little. Yet though the Daoist sect's calculations had been ingenious, the Heavenly Court was too vast, and in the translocation some flaws appeared.

The edges of the Heavenly Court failed to enter the translocation bridges completely and were sliced through by the bridges' light, instantly severed from the Heavenly Court; and some tower ships and great vessels, in dragging the Heavenly Court, caused it to tilt or shift slightly, so that it was cut off by the spirit-energy translocation bridges, and fragments fell from the sky.

These fragments trailed long flames, fire-tails hundreds of thousands of li long, falling from the sky into the Ancestral Court; only after more than ten days did they come crashing down into the Ancestral Court.

Even so, the fragments had not burned clean, and they struck the earth of the Ancestral Court, causing mountains to crumble and the ground to split, fire-hurricanes to howl, fire-meteors to rain down, and disaster to follow upon disaster.

The eleven Heavenly Venerates turned a blind eye to it all, and went on overseeing the migration of the Heavenly Court.

The severed portions of the Heavenly Court were but a hair from nine oxen of that colossus, utterly insignificant.

Just then the North Heavenly Gate was cut open. The enormous gate tilted and fell from the Heavenly Court; the towering gate turned into a brilliant star in the sky, and the star, torn by the geomagnetic power of the Ancestral Court, split into several dozen pieces, like several dozen dazzling great stars.

Suddenly Heavenly Venerate Hong frowned slightly and summoned a Daoist disciple, saying in a low voice, "Why has the translocation slowed?"

That Daoist disciple said hurriedly, "Replying to the Heavenly Venerate, the translocation bridges are too hot. In the translocation the spirit energy rubs against the altars, and the altars can scarcely bear it. We are summoning the Rain Masters and Water Gods of the various heavens to come and cool the bridges. The Dao Master also says we should take this chance to adjust the tower ships, so that the Heavenly Court is not cut away too much by the bridges."

Heavenly Venerate Hong nodded. "Summon the Rain Masters, Water Gods, and River Gods of every heaven at once, and all the Dragon Kings of the seas as well!"

The Daoist hurried off.

Elsewhere, the other Heavenly Venerates were mostly asking the same question. Heavenly Consort Qiang dismissed the Daoist sect's men, thinking, "To summon the Rain Masters and Dragon Kings of every heaven will likely take another month or more..."

Scarcely had she thought this when another disciple came to report: "Your Highness, Heavenly Venerate Mu has come. He says he wishes to go to the God-Slaying Platform in Your Highness's domain."

Heavenly Consort Qiang was briefly startled, then laughed. "That rash boy, coming here to throw his life away — let him go."

The disciple said hurriedly, "With Heavenly Venerate Mu have come four strange men: one missing an arm, one a drunkard, one who looks like a pig butcher, and one slouching fellow carrying a demonic blade, and on the blade there grows an eye. Heavenly Venerate Mu says he has brought some friends, and they mean to ascend the God-Slaying Platform together."

Heavenly Consort Qiang waved a hand, unconcerned. "However many he brings, they all come to die. Go back and tell Heavenly Venerate Mu that they may go and ascend the God-Slaying Platform as they please. I must stay here and oversee matters; I will come by later to lend him my support."

The disciple made haste to assent and flew off.

Before the Ancestral Court's God-Slaying Platform, still a hundred li from the platform, Shen Mu and Zaifu halted, each gazing afar at those two dreadfully murderous spirit-blades, and their faces changed at once. As with one voice they praised: "What a ferocious blade!"

Around them came a crackling of ding-ding-ding — the most ferocious blade under heaven upon the God-Slaying Platform was too overbearing in its power; when the five grandmasters of the blade Dao came here, the blade intent formed by those two murderous auras clashed with their own blade intent!

The God-Slaying Platform was formed by nature, and had long absorbed the murderous aura between heaven and earth; nourished further by the murderous aura of countless ages of war in the Ancestral Court, it had grown incomparably strong, incomparably fierce.

It was well that all five were masters of the blade Dao, and were not invaded by the ferocious blade's might.

Tian Shu's face was ashen; he turned to go, chuckling. "It suddenly occurs to me that I have urgent business. You go on, I will take my leave first!"

Zaifu caught hold of him. "I still have a boatload of fine wine here."

Tian Shu's face shifted between light and dark; he ground his teeth. "Then the God of Thieves must steal another boatload, and I will drink it afterward!"

Zaifu laughed. "Easily said. Friends, have you noticed?"

They all looked over.

Zaifu laughed. "These two murderous auras have grown sentient over long ages, and are about to become two peerless divine blades! If they could be subdued, these two blades would surely rank as supreme treasures!"

The hearts of all were shaken; they hurried to look at the two murderous auras, but could make out nothing.

Shen Mu's vertical eye at the center of his brow opened, and he too looked at the two auras. His body trembled slightly, and he praised in a low voice, "What a pair of handsome divine blades!"
