Chapter 1885 — Another Acquaintance

The Blossom Guardian

As for Wei Zhao, he was hardly in a position to explain his relationship with Wang Xinyan, so he simply kept his mouth shut.

That afternoon in the dorm, with nothing else to do, everyone broke out a deck of cards, and Wei Zhao joined in with gusto. But around four o'clock, his phone buzzed—a text from the young lady.

"Coming back or not?" Just four short words, and it was plain enough that the young lady was still simmering. Wei Zhao shook his head helplessly, though he did understand this abrupt question well enough: Gu Mengyao was asking whether he was coming back to the newly bought villa.

So Wei Zhao replied swiftly: "Coming back. Wait for me in the parking lot."

After sending it, he turned to his roommates with an apologetic look. "Sorry, I've got something to take care of this evening—heading out now, probably won't be back. See you in the morning. You all keep playing!"

"No way? Brother Lin, you're going to go book a room with Sister-in-law Xinyan?" Bai Weituo's eyes went wide with shock.

"That's a bit fast, isn't it? No—you two knew each other already. There must have been something going on long before this!" Song Xiaodao deduced.

"Huh? What're you all talking about?" Zhao Shengji had just polished off several cream buns and hadn't caught what Wei Zhao said.

"None of your business—just keep eating, you glutton!" Bai Weituo rolled his eyes, because he had noticed that Zhao Shengji's mouth practically never stopped. Ever since they got back from Cafeteria No. 4, this guy had gone down to the supermarket by the dorm and bought a mountain of snacks, eating while playing cards—who knew how his stomach could hold so much.

"Stop guessing. It's not her." Wei Zhao shrugged and said, a little helplessly, "If you don't believe me, you can call their dorm later."

At dinner earlier, though they hadn't grown close enough to exchange cell numbers, they had exchanged dorm numbers and agreed to keep in touch.

So hearing this, the others lost interest in digging further. Little did they know that Wei Zhao wasn't going out to spend the night with Wang Xinyan, but to "while away the night" with two other fine ladies.

Wei Zhao didn't use his true qi, but his speed was still beyond the reach of ordinary people. Though the girls' dorm was closer to the parking lot than the boys', Wei Zhao still got there first.

Which improved the expressions on the faces of Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu, who arrived after him.

"Chewing Gum Guy, hurry up and sweet-talk Sister Yaoyao—she got mad when she saw you treating other pretty girls to dinner!" Shen Yushu said to Wei Zhao once she got in the car.

"Ha... it's really nothing. A friend in my dorm said he wanted to set up a dorm-to-dorm matchmaking, but you two said you had plans, so I asked Wang Xinyan and the girls from her dorm to come out," Wei Zhao explained with a smile.

"No need to explain to me. I'm not your employer anymore." Gu Mengyao gave a light snort. "I'm only reminding you—you're a man with a girlfriend. Don't go around philandering all the time."

"A girlfriend... right..." Wei Zhao sometimes overlooked the fact that he had a girlfriend. Gu Mengyao's reminder made him think of Feng Xiaoxiao, but no matter how he tried to recall, his memories of Feng Xiaoxiao seemed to have a few gaps in them.

The process of meeting her, coming to know her, falling in love with her—it was somewhat disjointed, as though something were missing. So although thinking of Feng Xiaoxiao stirred a deep ache of longing in his heart, when he wasn't thinking of her, she was easy to overlook.

"Is Feng Xiaoxiao my only girlfriend?" Wei Zhao furrowed his brow, feeling as though he had forgotten something very important after his qi deviation, yet he had no impression of it at all. It was only an intuition—whether it was true or not, he couldn't be sure.

"Ah! Chewing Gum Guy, you remembered?" Shen Yushu was startled and looked at Wei Zhao in astonishment—then suddenly let out a yelp and turned to Gu Mengyao in bewilderment. "Sister Yaoyao, why did you pinch me... oh, I get it..." "Remembered what? Xiaoshu, what are you trying to say?" Wei Zhao asked, puzzled.

"I mean, you remembered—Sister Yaoyao is your other girlfriend?" Shen Yushu said in all seriousness.

"What?" Wei Zhao was stunned.

"Xiaoshu, what nonsense are you saying?" Gu Mengyao's face flushed red. Clearly Xiaoshu had misread the pinch—Gu Mengyao had meant to warn Shen Yushu not to let anything slip. There was no way Wei Zhao could remember Tang Yun; he must simply feel that something was off, that he was missing some memories, which was why he'd asked. But Xiaoshu had obviously assumed that Gu Mengyao wanted to be Wei Zhao's girlfriend, and so had twisted the facts.

"Huh? Didn't you tell me to say that?" Shen Yushu looked at Gu Mengyao in confusion.

"When did I ever tell you to say that? All right, all right, let's go home. I'm tired!" Gu Mengyao said, rather embarrassed. She gave a huff and let Shen Yushu off the hook.

Wei Zhao shook his head and started the car. He felt something was wrong, but from Gu Mengyao's and Shen Yushu's expressions, he would never be able to spot anything unusual.

The car rolled slowly out of the parking lot, but as it reached the school gate, something unexpected happened!

The lane on one side of the school was divided into an entrance and an exit. Naturally, Wei Zhao drove out through the exit, but because there were so many cars queued at the entrance, a Bentley Continental that had arrived later actually charged straight over to the exit, intending to enter the school through it.

And Wei Zhao was just about to drive out, so the two cars ended up face to face at the exit.

Wei Zhao wasn't the sort to go looking for trouble, but faced with someone so blatantly ignoring the rules, he certainly wasn't about to give way.

The exit had only one lane—even a single car had trouble getting through. If it had been a two-lane road, Wei Zhao wouldn't have minded yielding, but now there was no way he was backing up.

What Wei Zhao hadn't expected was that before he could even honk, the Bentley Continental let out a series of urgent blasts from its horn—and the horn had clearly been modified, absurdly loud, almost deafening.

Such arrogance made Wei Zhao frown. He turned to look at the young lady and saw that her face was unhappy as well.

So what if it was a sports car? As if nobody else could afford one. Back when Gu Mengyao was still in school, she had ridden in Bentleys too—only hers had cost far more than this sports car, a car worth over nine million.

"Fuck you, move it!" What surprised Wei Zhao even more was that a man suddenly stood up in the other car and started cursing at Wei Zhao's car—with lungs full of power, his voice no less booming than the horn had been.

Wei Zhao had never known who his parents were, so insults dragging them in infuriated him. What was even funnier to Wei Zhao was that the man standing up was an old acquaintance of his—Blondie!
