Chapter 2063 — Word of the Colored Steel, Part Two
"Elder Lin, I've reserved a table at the Arctic Ocean Seafood Restaurant here in Donghai City. I do hope you'll do me the honor." As he spoke, Han Xiaopo made a gesture of invitation and pulled open the door of the Mercedes S600.
"Let's go, then." Wei Zhao sighed inwardly. He was not particularly fond of fine food; if Feng Xiaoxiao had been here, taking her along would have been a fine choice indeed. The dishes at the Arctic Ocean Seafood Restaurant really were delicious, and the ingredients were fresh—Feng Xiaoxiao would surely have liked it.
This time, Han Xiaopo again served as driver himself, and once they were in the car, he drove straight for the Arctic Ocean Seafood Restaurant.
This was Wei Zhao's second visit to the Arctic Ocean Seafood Restaurant. The luxury cars at the entrance were still numerous, so much so that Han Xiaopo's Mercedes S600 hardly stood out at all—Bentleys, Rolls-Royces, sports cars of every description, there was no shortage of any of them.
Still, though the car Han Xiaopo drove was nothing exceptional, the moment they stepped through the door they received a warm welcome—even the lobby manager came running over in person. "Young Master Han, you've come!"
Han Xiaopo gave a nod, but said, "This is the true honored guest!"
"Welcome! Welcome to the Arctic Ocean Seafood Restaurant! Honored guests, please take the elevator—the private room is already prepared, and today I shall attend to you both personally!" the lobby manager said hurriedly.
The hidden Han family to which Han Xiaopo belonged might have been the least powerful of the hidden clans, but in Donghai City, apart from the hidden Zhao family, it was the hidden Han family that held the most influence, so naturally the managers and waiters of such restaurants dared not slight them.
"Sir, you look rather familiar—have you patronized our establishment before?" the lobby manager asked, noticing that Wei Zhao looked somewhat familiar, while they rode the elevator.
"Yes, I came a few days ago with a friend. But your prices here are rather high—my friend got thoroughly fleeced." Wei Zhao smiled.
"Ah?" The lobby manager was taken aback. He did not know who Wei Zhao was, but he knew exactly who Han Xiaopo was—the hidden Han family, how could they possibly lack money? Never mind that Han Xiaopo had only driven over in a Mercedes S600; that was simply him keeping a low profile. Yet Wei Zhao had said the prices here were high, which left the lobby manager somewhat at a loss for a reply.
Fortunately, he was quick on his feet. "Haha, they are indeed a little high. For this meal, I'll give you both a fifty percent discount!"
"No need for the discount." Han Xiaopo waved a hand. "Go and make Elder Lin a VIP card. From now on, whenever he comes here, everything is on the house—any bill signed by Elder Lin, put the amount on my account, and I'll settle it all at the end of the year."
Such trifling sums were nothing the hidden Han family cared about. The Han family today had money and fine treasures aplenty—what they lacked was a ruthless man to hold the fort, which was why other hidden clans coveted and bullied them. If they could draw the ties between Wei Zhao and the hidden Han family a little closer, spending this pittance would be nothing at all! Even if it cost far more, the hidden Han family could afford it!
"Yes, of course..." The lobby manager was all the more astonished inwardly. It seemed this man called Elder Lin was a personage even the hidden Han family could not afford to offend, and presumably the hidden Han family had need of him—so the lobby manager hastily nodded and said, "I'll send someone to see to it shortly. Elder Lin's *** card will not only allow consumption, but will also enjoy the highest *** treatment from now on—a thirty percent discount, and access to private rooms with no minimum spend."
"Good, go ahead. Put ten million on Elder Lin's card first—I'll swipe it along with the bill later!" Han Xiaopo said mildly.
Wei Zhao did not decline. The more Han Xiaopo tried to curry favor with him, the more it showed how important the upcoming Hidden World Clan Summit was to the hidden Han family—especially their ranking at the summit. So, seeing Han Xiaopo's attitude, Wei Zhao intended to help them a good deal more!
Besides, Han Xiaopo had said that the fine treasures won at the summit would not be kept by them—all of it would be given to Wei Zhao as recompense. In other words, the more Wei Zhao won, the more good things he would get. This private room was a world apart from the one Zhang Duopan had booked last time; this room was sumptuous as a palace, like a crystal palace, while Zhang Duopan's room last time could only be called ordinary!
This place was already luxurious beyond any further luxury, a full grade more lavish than the Starlight Splendor Hotel in Songshan City! The private room was not only astonishingly large, but its décor was exceptionally exquisite, and antiques and calligraphy by famous hands were to be seen everywhere—and even the forgeries were superb works!
To be able to admire famous calligraphy and paintings in one's leisure while dining was a fine pleasure in itself! It seemed that only distinguished guests like Han Xiaopo could open a private room of this caliber; ordinary customers who spent less would never be invited into a room of this level.
"The dishes are ready—shall we serve them now?" the lobby manager asked cautiously after ushering the two into the private room.
"Elder Lin, what do you think?" Han Xiaopo did not decide on his own, but instead asked Wei Zhao's opinion.
"It's mealtime anyway, so serve the dishes. We'll talk while we eat!" Wei Zhao said with a nod.
"You heard him? Serve the dishes now!" Han Xiaopo said to the lobby manager.
"Very good, I'll go give the orders at once!" The lobby manager nodded and turned to leave the private room to make preparations.
And now only Wei Zhao and Han Xiaopo remained in the private room. Han Xiaopo smiled slightly, drew a small box from his bosom, and pushed it across to Wei Zhao, saying, "Elder Lin, please examine it—is this the colored steel you need?"
"Oh?" Wei Zhao nodded, reached out and took the small box, thinking to himself that Han Xiaopo was indeed as good as his word—before Wei Zhao had even competed on behalf of the hidden Han family, he had already brought out the payment, and regardless of victory or defeat at that.
Wei Zhao opened the small box, and what met his eyes was a piece of metallic substance blended of seven colors, roughly the size of a quail's egg, rather like a lump of iron sprayed with camouflage paint—but by Wei Zhao's observation, this was absolutely not a paint-sprayed lump of iron, but a metal naturally of this very color!
"Old Jiao, is this colored steel?" Wei Zhao's face betrayed nothing; he made a show of examining the colored steel, while in his heart he was questioning Jiao Yazi.
"Indeed, boy Lin, this is precisely colored steel!" Old Jiao's voice sounded by Wei Zhao's ear. "However, this piece is too small. Colored steel is the principal among the three materials needed to expand the space of the jade pendant, and it is required in the greatest quantity. With only this small piece, the space that can be refined will not be very large!"
Hearing Jiao Yazi's words, Wei Zhao felt a faint disappointment in his heart, but he still asked, "Han Xiaopo, is this the only piece of colored steel you have?"
