Chapter 2181 — Rounding Up
"Th-this is..." Li Biaohan wanted to say it wasn't, but he was afraid that once he said so, Wei Zhao would get even angrier and knock the price down another notch, and then he would be the one taking a heavy loss. So he had no choice but to nod.
"Oh, and what I'm collecting the money for happens to be buying Zhao Shengji a car. Let's count this Q7 toward the sum," Wei Zhao said.
"Fine... whatever you say goes!" Li Biaohan did some quick mental math. He had paid one million one hundred thousand for this Q7, but the model was already outdated; if it was valued at one million one hundred thousand, that was actually a decent deal—with the money he saved, he could buy himself a new car.
"Good. This car looks pretty beat up, an old model. I'll count it at a hundred thousand for you, which leaves one million nine hundred thousand. I'll round that up for you and call it an even two million," Wei Zhao said.
"What?" Li Biaohan nearly burst into tears. Even if this Audi Q7 was an old model, it would still fetch six or seven hundred thousand on the used-car market, wouldn't it? And besides, fine, call it a hundred thousand if you say so—but the remaining one million nine hundred thousand, you're going to round that up too? Just lump it into an even two million? Isn't that the same as swindling me out of a car for free?
"What, you have a problem with that?" Wei Zhao asked.
"N-no... none at all..." Li Biaohan smiled bitterly, filled with regret. If he had known that this 01 test subject would pick that moment to fail him, why would he have shown off like that? If he had just acted the humble grandson the moment he walked in, he probably wouldn't have lost so much.
"All right, pay up," Wei Zhao said.
"Okay, I'll transfer it..." Li Biaohan didn't dare try any tricks. Following the bank account number Wei Zhao gave him, he transferred two million, then obediently handed over the car keys and said, "Big Brother Wei Zhao, seeing how readily I've cooperated, please don't break my ribs, all right?"
"Oh, in light of how readily you've cooperated, I won't lay a hand on you," Wei Zhao said.
Li Biaohan was instantly overjoyed—but Wei Zhao's next words left his face covered in gloom once more: "You two fight each other. Break each other's ribs."
"That..." Li Biaohan stared blankly at Wei Zhao. "Fight each other?"
Gao Lutong looked just as miserable. Fight each other? Who could bring themselves to do it? If their ribs got broken without them noticing, that would be one thing, but making the two of them beat each other up—wasn't that just breaking down a person's willpower?
"Not going to fight each other? That's fine too—then hit yourselves. If I have to step in and break them, it won't just be your ribs!" Wei Zhao said.
"We'll fight, we'll fight, we're fighting right now!" Li Biaohan nodded hurriedly.
And so a very bizarre scene unfolded in the boxing club: Li Biaohan and Gao Lutong, the club's two heads—senior and junior—were fighting each other. Li Biaohan came off somewhat better; after all, he was a skilled fighter of the Yellow Rank, and one punch broke Gao Lutong's ribs. But Gao Lutong had far less accuracy. His own ribs had already been broken first, and his right wrist was broken too, so he had to use his left hand to hit Li Biaohan. He swung again and again, hurting Li Biaohan badly, yet somehow failing to do any real damage to him...
"Enough, stop hitting. I'll do it myself!" Li Biaohan was somewhat speechless. He raised his fist, gritted his teeth, and brought it down on his own sternum with a crisp crack—the sternum broke. He looked pitifully at Wei Zhao and said, "Is this good enough?"
"That'll do." Wei Zhao nodded. He could tell that this Li Biaohan was unconvinced in his heart, but had been forced by circumstance to do it anyway.
Because Wei Zhao had already realized that Li Biaohan was no ordinary student. If his guess was right, he must be a member of the Fire Wolf Gang! That test subject lying on the ground at the entrance bore all the hallmarks of the Fire Wolf Gang's type—glassy-eyed, injected with the 01 agent, hypnotized.
So making Li Biaohan submit sincerely was impossible. But for the time being, Wei Zhao and the Fire Wolf Gang were like well water and river water—neither encroaching on the other. Though Wei Zhao had no ability to contend with the Fire Wolf Gang, the Fire Wolf Gang's branch clearly had no desire to make an enemy of Wei Zhao either.
Taking Zhao Shengji, Bai Weituo, and Chai Xiaoling with him, Wei Zhao walked out of the boxing club. As he passed the Fire Wolf Gang disciple, he raised his foot and stomped down—four stomps in a row, snapping all four of the Fire Wolf Gang disciple's limbs. Only then did Wei Zhao pull a silver needle out from the disciple's body.
Although this Fire Wolf Gang disciple had been modified by the 01 agent and had gained enormous increases in resilience and strength, in the end he was not like an inner-school cultivator with true qi shielding his body, nor like an outer-school cultivator whose body had been tempered to great toughness. So an ordinary acupoint strike was enough to knock him unconscious. Still, just to be safe, Wei Zhao had used a silver needle to pierce the acupoint; as for those four big men, Wei Zhao had used only ordinary acupoint strikes.
The Fire Wolf Gang disciple's limbs had all been crippled by Wei Zhao, so even if he woke up in a little while, he would pose no offensive capability or threat whatsoever.
Even after they had walked all the way out of the boxing club's gymnasium building, Zhao Shengji and Bai Weituo still felt as if they were dreaming. Just like that, they had taught everyone in the boxing club a lesson? And on top of that, the men had broken each other's ribs themselves—if word got out, people would probably treat it as a joke, yet it had truly happened right before their eyes.
"Zhao Shengji, what's your bank account number? I'll transfer the money to you," Wei Zhao said.
"Huh?" Only then did Zhao Shengji come back to his senses, but he shook his head and said, "Boss, you've already avenged me, and I'm deeply grateful for that. This money is what you demanded from them—how could I have the nerve to take it?"
"This money is the medical compensation I demanded for you. It was yours to begin with," Wei Zhao said. "Besides, you and Chai Xiaoling are dating now—you need money, don't you?"
"Uh... then I'll just take half. Any more than that and I'd be ashamed to accept it. And with this half, I'll give some to Bai Weituo and Song Xiaodao too—I can't keep it all for myself," Zhao Shengji said. He was an honest sort, not greedy for money.
"All right then." Wei Zhao didn't argue with him further. In truth, Wei Zhao was rather short on money himself, but a million wasn't going to make or break him either. Wei Zhao planned to go shake some money out of An Jianwen.
After transferring the money to Zhao Shengji, Wei Zhao tossed the car keys to Bai Weituo and said, "All three of you, go get your driver's licenses. This car will count as our dorm's shared vehicle—it'll make getting around easier."
"No way? You're giving us the car too?" Bai Weituo was both shocked and delighted. He never expected to become a car owner—and a luxury car owner at that.
"Boss, why don't you drive this car yourself... we don't need it, do we?" Zhao Shengji also felt that keeping this car as a shared vehicle was a bit inappropriate.
"I already have a car. I don't need it," Wei Zhao waved his hand. Wei Zhao's Grand Cherokee had been modified and could handle any road; he really couldn't bear to trade it in.
"Then we'll take it!" Bai Weituo said shamelessly. "Boss, you're really too good to us. I already have my license—Shengji and Xiaodao just need to go take the test. Our school has a driving school right on campus."
