Chapter 2330 — The Wounds Are Healed

The Blossom Guardian

Although Wei Zhao had promised that both his grandfather's and his brother's injuries could be treated, Pi Zhishan had no real confidence as to whether they could be treated at all, or healed once treated. Even though Wu Chengtian appeared perfectly calm, Pi Zhishan had never seen it with his own eyes, and he was still uneasy.

And now Wei Zhao had returned; the moment of witnessing a miracle was at hand. Pi Zhishan hurried to open the door, and sure enough, there was Wei Zhao, weathered and travel-worn, standing beside a Grand Cherokee and pressing the villa's doorbell.

"Boss, you're back!" Pi Zhishan strode out to meet him, opened the iron gate of the villa's courtyard for Wei Zhao, and said, "Boss, you rest first—I'll park the car in the courtyard for you."

"All right, I'll leave it to you, then." Wei Zhao nodded, without standing on ceremony. "How are your grandfather and Wu Chengtian doing?"

"Their injuries have been holding steady. Will you go and take a look in a bit, Boss?" Pi Zhishan got into the car, drove it into a parking space in the villa's courtyard, and said.

"Let's go now." All the way here, Wei Zhao's thoughts had been on Wu Chengtian's and Old Master Pi's injuries. Both men had been wounded trying to rescue Wang Xinyan; by any measure of feeling or reason, Wei Zhao could not leave them be.

Never mind that they had gone to save Wang Xinyan for his sake—even if they had not, and had acted purely to rescue Wang Xinyan, then given how much Wang Xinyan had done for him, Wei Zhao could not sit by and ignore the wounds of her benefactors.

"All right!" Pi Zhishan's heart leapt with joy. He had assumed Wei Zhao would rest a while after getting home, but never expected him to rush straight into healing his grandfather and Wu Chengtian without pause.

Inside the villa, Granny Sun smiled and nodded to Wei Zhao. "Mr. Lin, you're back. Shall I make you something to eat?"

Wei Zhao turned and looked at Granny Sun's smiling face; the more he looked, the more she resembled Sun Jingyan, and the suspicion in his heart grew all the firmer. Before, he had also thought Granny Sun and Sun Jingyan looked alike, but he had not read much into it—after all, Granny Sun was of the Sun family and Sun Jingyan was of the Sun family too; they were relatives, and a close resemblance was only natural. But things were different now. Having guessed at Sun Jingyan's parentage, Wei Zhao found Granny Sun's face all the more familiar.

"Granny Sun, just call me Xiaoyi from now on—no need for 'Mr. Lin.' Being so formal makes me uncomfortable." Now that Wei Zhao knew Granny Sun's true background, he naturally dared not have her call him Mr. Lin any longer. If something were to happen between him and Sun Jingyan someday, Granny Sun would be his mother-in-law, and Wei Zhao was hardly used to such formality from her.

"Heh, how many times have you told me that? It's hard for me to change the habit," Granny Sun said with a laugh. "It's only a form of address, after all..."

There was nothing Wei Zhao could do, and no point saying more. He only said, "Granny Sun, give Uncle Qing a call and have him find time to come over as soon as he can. I have something very important to discuss with him."

"Oh? All right, I'll call him in a bit." Seeing how grave Wei Zhao was, Granny Sun nodded and agreed at once.

Meanwhile, Wei Zhao and Pi Zhishan went together to the room where Old Master Pi and Wu Chengtian were recovering. The old man and the young one lay in the same room day after day, chatting and exchanging views. Both were external-school cultivators; Old Master Pi was moreover a Heaven-rank expert. Wu Chengtian took the attitude of a learner, and Old Master Pi that of a friendly mentor—one eager to learn, the other glad to teach—and every day they talked away in high delight.

The two had already heard Wei Zhao's voice, but with injuries upon them they could not rise to greet him. Old Master Pi, the better off of the two, sat up in bed at once when he heard Wei Zhao arrive. "Mr. Lin, you're back!"

"Old Master Pi, lie down. We're all one family now—no need for such formality." Wei Zhao waved a hand. "Let me take a look at you first."

"No hurry about me—it's mainly young Wu. His injuries are worse than mine. Would you look at him first?" Old Master Pi waved his hand. He was a Heaven-rank expert, and his injuries were not as severe as Wu Chengtian's, so naturally he would not have Wei Zhao treat him first.

"Very well." Wei Zhao did not decline. In fact, one glance was enough for him to tell whose injuries were the more serious.

Wei Zhao reached out and laid his hand on Wu Chengtian's meridians, then began to circulate the second layer of the Xuanyuan Dragon-Taming Art. Wu Chengtian did not resist; there was nothing he needed to do during the treatment—only to lie still and enjoy the comfort of his wounds mending.

This was not the first time Wu Chengtian had received healing from Wei Zhao, and he knew the routine well, without a trace of worry. Last time his injuries had been worse than these—he had been all but a cripple—and he had recovered all the same, so Wu Chengtian felt his full recovery was no question at all.

Pi Zhishan and Old Master Pi, however, were seeing Wei Zhao heal someone for the first time. They watched as he seemed to do it with the greatest of ease—merely placing his hand over Wu Chengtian's pulse—and Wu Chengtian's complexion began to improve at a rate visible to the naked eye!

Wu Chengtian had lain abed for many days, but injuries of this kind did not mend simply from lying long; apart from a little better spirits, his condition had been unchanged. Yet now, as if by magic, his face went from pale to ruddy!

Soon it was no different from a normal man's, and this wondrous turn left Pi Zhishan and Old Master Pi clicking their tongues in amazement!

The two exchanged a glance, and each saw in the other's eyes boundless astonishment and shock. They had assumed Wei Zhao's healing consisted of herbs and acupuncture and the like—that even if it could cure, there could be no result in the short term. But now it was plainly nothing of the sort. Wei Zhao's healing was as good as the touch of a hand that banishes illness outright!

In fact, the time Wei Zhao spent healing Wu Chengtian was not short at all, but to Pi Zhishan and Old Master Pi it seemed utterly brief. When Wu Chengtian sprang up from the sickbed and appeared before them hale and vigorous, the two were utterly overturned in all their previous knowledge of martial arts.

"Boss, is he... healed?" Pi Zhishan stared at Wu Chengtian, who seemed to have nothing wrong with him at all, and asked cautiously, scarcely able to believe it.

"Healed. Now it's your grandfather's turn. Where's your brother? You didn't bring him along too?" Wei Zhao asked.

"Uh... healed already, that fast?" Pi Zhishan's mind was truly slow to catch up. "My brother's studying business and hotel management. Old Master Wu Gonggao, Wu Chengtian's grandfather, is keeping him company over there, and they haven't come yet. I never figured it could be cured this quickly... Shall I call them over now?"
