Chapter 2912 — The Legend of Two People (Part 4)

The Blossom Guardian

This senior Yang Ming was, of course, Yang Qiqi's father and Wei Zhao's master! Yet never in his wildest dreams had Wei Zhao imagined that his own master and his family's old man had once been such titans who shook the world!

It was just that after this affair, Yang Ming departed, and Lin Dongfang once again went into seclusion among the mountains and wilds. Those ancient sects that had taken the loss were all trembling with dread; none dared speak of the matter, and no one would bring it up or ask about it of their own accord.

As for Lin Dongfang, for reasons of his own, he too kept silent about the events of that year, so that with the passage of time, the whole affair was gradually buried away...

"Tu Wanghai pays his respects to Senior Yang!" Tu Wanghai said gravely.

Yang Ming gave a casual wave of his hand and said mildly, "Since you are an old acquaintance of Brother Lin, there's no need for such courtesy. Tell us, then—what is your purpose in seeking us out?"

"Yes!" Tu Wanghai did not dare play any tricks, and simply spoke the truth: "The reason I have invited you two seniors here is, first, on account of my own affairs. I have lingered too long at the level of late Heaven Rank peak, great consummation—if I do not advance to the Heavenly Dao soon, I fear I shall simply die of old age! You two are both adepts of the Heavenly Dao, and are now gathering throughout the martial world those at the peak of late Heaven Rank, great consummation, to advance to the Heavenly Dao. So this unworthy Tu wishes to recommend himself..."

"Oh? Most other sects can't avoid us fast enough—yet here you are, seeking us out of your own accord?" Yang Ming regarded Tu Wanghai with interest. "Aren't you afraid I might deceive you?"

"Others would naturally think so, but I have met Senior Lin Dongfang before, and I know you would never deceive me!" Tu Wanghai said with conviction.

"Heh heh, it's true we won't deceive you. But let me put the ugly truth plainly first: we will help you advance to the Heavenly Dao, and in return you must come with us to do a certain thing." Yang Ming smiled. "Are you willing?"

"Naturally. If the senior helps me advance to the Heavenly Dao, then helping the senior in return is only proper—there is nothing to shirk." Tu Wanghai nodded. "I would not refuse even at the cost of my life!"

"Good. Then pack your things and come away with us," Lin Dongfang said with satisfaction.

"Very well. Second, I wished to ask—how is my granddaughter's condition?" Tu Wanghai asked.

"Your granddaughter—I have taken her as my sworn daughter. Under Brother Lin's medicinal care, her health is quite good now. However, I have not told her of her origins; I do not wish her to bear any burden." Yang Ming said, "This time, come along with us and you will be able to see her. A glance from afar will suffice—do not say much to her."

"I understand!" Tu Wanghai hastily assented. He too knew that letting Tu Ranran grow up carefree and without psychological pressure was beneficial to her development; otherwise, with her perpetually weighed down by worries, even Lin Dongfang, divine physician though he was, would find it hard to help.

"Good. In that case, let us set out. The matter is rather urgent—once you have advanced to the Heavenly Dao along with the others, we can hurry to provide support a moment sooner, and return a day sooner!" Yang Ming said.

"No problem, you two seniors. I will go pack at once and set out with you!" Though Tu Wanghai did not know what they were to support, he did not ask further. Having made his decision, he would see it through—whatever it was that needed doing.

By this time, Tu Qingsong was already the young sect master of the Yellow Earth High Sect, following Tu Wanghai every day and learning to handle sect affairs, and so he understood that affair of years past very well.

After Tu Wanghai left, Tu Qingsong inherited the position of sect master. But what he never expected was that once his father and those two seniors departed, more than ten years would pass with no word at all!

Over the years, Tu Wanghai had also made inquiries of the other ancient sects, asking whether there was any news of their departed sect masters, grand elders, supreme elders, and the like—but no one had any word. These people had simply vanished into thin air...

And afterward, in everyone's view, these people were most likely no longer among the living. The affair of that year had probably been a swindle all along—those two Heavenly Dao adepts had led those late Heaven Rank peak, great consummation experts away and done away with them...

Of course, there was no end of theories. Some said that Heavenly Dao adepts belonged to an entirely different tier of power, that these people were cultivating elsewhere, in a place called Cloud-Tier Island, where the spiritual qi of heaven and earth was beyond all comparison with this side; that after advancing to the Heavenly Dao, these people were bound by the constraints of that tier and could not leave Cloud-Tier Island at will... and so on. In any case, opinions differed and all was conjecture.

Even if what those people said was true—that Heavenly Dao adepts could not leave Cloud-Tier Island at will—Tu Qingsong still wanted to know where Tu Ranran had gone! Yet when he went with Tu Qingshui once more to the Miao lands to seek Lin Dongfang, he found that the market was long gone. A landslide had occurred there, and the place where the market had stood was now nothing but scattered rubble...

And the Miao lands were vast—how could Tu Qingsong find the time to search slowly? Even if he searched, he might not find anything. Had it not been said that Tu Ranran had been sent to the side of Senior Yang Ming? So Tu Qingsong could only return with Tu Qingshui to the Western Regions.

Now, quite unexpectedly, Tu Qingsong had received word of those two men's descendants. His heart surged with excitement and elation, yet he dared not immediately ask Wei Zhao about the whereabouts of Seniors Lin Dongfang and Yang Ming. He could only let the Earth Tyrant and Wei Zhao become acquainted first, and look for an opportunity to inquire later!

The one thing to be grateful for was that Tu Ranran was presumably with Wei Zhao—and the earth-attribute essence liquid that Wei Zhao had demanded from the Yellow Earth High Sect had likely been requested on Tu Ranran's behalf as well.

"Uncle, what's wrong? Why have you gone silent?" the Earth Tyrant asked. After he had spoken of the "earth-attribute legacy inheritor," Tu Qingsong's excitement was, in his view, only natural—but surely not so great that he would fall silent for so long?

So at last the Earth Tyrant could wait no longer, and spoke up to ask.

"It's nothing—I am simply overjoyed!" Tu Qingsong felt that some matters were better left unspoken to the Earth Tyrant for the time being. After all, the Earth Tyrant was young and impulsive, his temperament unsteady; if he revealed the truth, it would only make the Earth Tyrant more fearful—or all the more eager to curry favor with Wei Zhao—and that would not do at all.

Moreover, regarding Tu Ranran, it was only conjecture. Though he was more than eighty percent certain, he had not yet seen Tu Ranran with his own eyes, so it was not easy to be sure. He decided to first obtain Tu Ranran's photograph and name, and only after he had truly confirmed her identity would he decide whether to tell the Earth Tyrant of this matter.
