Chapter 899 — The Dharma Lord Eternal Through Ten Thousand Kalpas

The Herdsman of the Wasteland · Page 1 of 5

(There was a bug in the previous chapter — the Heavenly Emperor's soul ought to have been suppressed within the Emperor's Coffin; I misremembered, and it has been corrected. The plot from here on follows the revised version.

) Though those eight Heavenly Emperors were all born of Mother Earth, each belonged to a different race. One demigod emperor was conceived when the Primordial Sovereign of Mother Earth resonated with the ancestral dragon vein of the Yuan Realm continent; she bore a son with a dragon's head and a human body, honored as the Heavenly Emperor Longxi.

Another was conceived when the Primordial Sovereign resonated with the qi of the sky; she bore a daughter with a phoenix's head, a human body, and a pair of wings, honored as the Heavenly Emperor Fengyou.

Another was conceived when the Primordial Sovereign resonated with the Heavenly River; she bore a son with a turtle's back and a human body, honored as the Heavenly Emperor Heluo.

Another was conceived when Mother Earth resonated with Mount Sumeru, the mightiest peak of the Yuan Realm; she bore a son whose body was like a boulder, honored as the Heavenly Emperor Jiamo.

Another was conceived when she resonated with Youdu; she bore a son with an ox's head, a human body, and three eyes, honored as the Heavenly Emperor Yebo.

Another was conceived when she resonated with Xuandu; she bore a daughter whose whole body was snow-white, whose eyes had no pupils but shone with white light, honored as the Heavenly Emperor Xuannü.

The Heavenly Emperor Yuanjun was born when Mother Earth resonated with Guixu; his body was black, its surface patterned with whorls.

Only Mother Earth's eldest daughter, the Heavenly Emperor Meiying, was transformed from a fruit of the earthly dao she bore, which fell away and took form upon landing.

Apart from these Heavenly Emperors and the corpse of the one Feng Qiuyun had brought into the Ghost Ship, the others had died out in the world, their souls scattered; there were even rumors that several Heavenly Emperors had been picked up by others and refined into treasures. These Heavenly Emperors were mighty by nature.

Though born of Mother Earth, because the heaven-and-earth qi she resonated with differed in each case, their appearances were vastly different, and each was born with divine abilities of his or her own. Their divine abilities were bound to Mother Earth and to the heaven-and-earth qi she resonated with, but they had no blood relation to the Lord of Heaven or the Earth Lord.

The age of the Heavenly Emperors was a wild age.

These Heavenly Emperors cultivated to incomparable strength; when they soared into the sky to confront the Celestial Venerable Yu, the heavenly palaces streaming behind the eight Heavenly Emperors were battered and torn, yet utterly unrestrained. Their mighty bodies twisted space.

The Heavenly Emperor Xuannü reached out and seized the heavens floating in the sky, plucking sun, moon, and stars from them; her terrifying power delved into a sun, gouged out its star core, and forged it on the spot into a weapon, which she hurled at the Celestial Venerable Yu. Star after star was like a plaything in her hands. These were true stars; primordial magnetism and starlight burst forth, and the planets even burned.

The Heavenly Emperor Heluo severed a stretch of the Heavenly River outright and forged it into a weapon.

The immeasurably long Heavenly River was like the most gorgeous whip in the sky, and like the mightiest divine dragon. The Heavenly Emperor Yebo waved a hand, and countless demigods within a radius of hundreds of thousands of li exploded into flesh and blood; in one breath he swallowed all their blood qi into his belly, boosting his own battle power.
