Shen Mu saw the Dragon Keeper Lord in the divine city. This fellow had actually become a minor overseer in charge of supervising the dragon gods and river gods, and was overseeing the work.
"Dragon Keeper Lord!"
Long Qilin called out loudly, "The Cult Master seeks you!"
Hearing this, the Dragon Keeper Lord turned to look, and when he saw it was Shen Mu, he hurried over and saluted him, his heart filled with unease.
Shen Mu said with a smile, "No need to worry. If you had betrayed me, you would long since have died without a burial place. You only sought refuge with the Heavenly Court temporarily for the sake of your own life. Dragon Keeper Lord, how did you survive?"
The Dragon Keeper Lord had made the Little Earth Earl pact with him, and had been watched closely by Shen Fengqing, who had long since regarded him as ingredients. Had the Dragon Keeper Lord defected, Shen Fengqing would certainly have taken him away to be eaten. Since Shen Fengqing had not eaten him, that proved the Dragon Keeper Lord had not betrayed them. Though Shen Mu did not much trust his elder brother Shen Fengqing's character, he did trust his appetite.
The Dragon Keeper Lord breathed a sigh of relief and said, "When the Heavenly Court's great army reached here, I led the dragon gods of the river to surrender. Many dragon gods intended to betray the Master, and died on the spot, inexplicably becoming corpses. Though I surrendered, I did not dare betray the Master. The Heavenly Court's army saw that I was still useful, so they spared my life and had me oversee the building of the divine city."
Shen Mu asked, "Who is the deity guarding the Surging River?"
"The disciple of the Azure Emperor of the Eastern Heaven, the Martial Ultimate Divine Venerable." The Dragon Keeper Lord said, "The Azure Emperor of the Eastern Heaven swept through the various demi-god clans and has already pacified all the factions. He has left the Yuan Realm and returned to the Eastern Heaven, leaving the Martial Ultimate Divine Venerable to suppress this place. Master, you had best leave quickly. Many have come down from the Heavenly Court, a mixed crowd of dragons and snakes, and some have been asking me about you, with very unfriendly words."
Shen Mu nodded lightly and said with a smile, "I long ago heard that someone in the Heavenly Court means to deal with me, the Shepherd Heavenly Venerable, and I have made preparations. No need to worry."
Just then, a hearty laugh suddenly rang out. In a great hall above the divine city under construction, someone laughed loudly, "The Shepherd Heavenly Venerable has come from afar, and I, Martial Ultimate, have failed to welcome you in person. Forgive me, forgive me! Shepherd Heavenly Venerable, please come up and converse."
The Dragon Keeper Lord's expression shifted slightly, and he signaled Shen Mu to leave quickly. Shen Mu laughed, "It is no matter. There are plenty of people who want to kill me. If I hid from them everywhere, how long would I have to hide? You go on down first."
The Dragon Keeper Lord was about to urge him further, and Shen Mu said with a half-smile, "If the Azure Emperor of the Eastern Heaven came, he would have to yield me three parts of courtesy. What more his disciple?"
The Dragon Keeper Lord said, "Master, the King of Hell is easy to meet, but his little devils are hard to deal with! The celestial deities of the Heavenly Court come with ill intent; why seek humiliation? That Martial Ultimate Divine Venerable is no kindly sort either..."
Shen Mu waved his hand, stood on Long Qilin's forehead, and headed toward the divine hall in the sky.
