At the second heaven of the Dao fire, Shen Mu looked back again and saw the countless stars and constellations of the southern sky of the cosmos turned into another ring hanging beyond the forbidden zone, become a further layer of heavens outside the Southern Pole Heaven.
At the third heaven, a still stranger sight appeared: Shen Mu saw the Primordial Realm and the myriad worlds of the heavens turned into a third ring hanging beyond the forbidden zone! And at the fourth heaven of the Dao fire, Heaven Duke's Xuandu had become the fourth layer of heavens!
The Dark Capital was the fifth heaven of the Dao fire, forming a dark halo. The Gulf of Returning was the sixth heaven of the Dao fire: the Dark Capital was dark of hue, but the Gulf of Returning was black, without a glimmer of light.
The seventh heaven was the Heavenly Court, a halo of incomparable brilliance, dazzling to the eye.
The eighth heaven of the Dao fire was the other three poles among the Four Pole Heavens, like three brilliant little rings hung upon one ring. The lantern in Yan'er's hand suddenly caught fire; even the lantern refined by the Moon Celestial Venerable could not hold out long here!
Shen Mu looked ahead: they had already reached the outer edge of the ninth heaven of the Dao fire!
Just then the might of this forbidden zone of the Great Way was greatly diminished, the flames upon the lantern slowly died out, and a violent current of air came rushing at them, stirring their clothes!
Shen Mu looked up and saw a treasured hall descending from the sky, hung all over with talismans, runes of every hue like countless locks sealing the great hall fast! The Hall of Wafting Incense had descended.
"Celestial Venerable Mu, you have come too late. " Amid the flames of the ninth heaven of the Dao fire, a towering figure stood within the fire, turned his head slightly, and said mildly, "The Southern Emperor has already fallen.
"
