Chapter 1073 — The Foundations of the Ancient Gods

The Herdsman of the Wasteland · Page 3 of 4

Of the ancient gods and the upheavals of the primeval age, Shen Mu knew little — for the Creators of the Other Shore World had suffered extinction after extinction, and the primal spirits of the Other Shore World knew little of the distant past either.

In Luo Xiao's age, the Creators of Taixu still knew something of the ancient history, but of why the Creators were destroyed by the ancient gods he knew nothing at all.

In time to come, after the Creators of Taixu were wiped out by the Great Emperor, those who fled into the Other Shore World were mostly of the new generation, and another portion of history was lost. By then Luo Xiao was dead, become a primal spirit, and mad besides, his mind clouded — and yet another portion of the Creators' history was lost.

The Heavenly Dragon Treasure Chariot raced on, and the scenery beyond the windows had become a field of stars. Yan'er ran to the rear of the carriage and gazed back at the Yuan Realm, which had already shrunk to a tiny speck.

They passed by a great red sun, ancient and in its dotage, grown immense; near it floated ancient continents bearing ruined cities, though no god-clans dwelt there any longer.

Yan'er looked toward those cities, and something stirred in her heart; she had the Dragon Qilin steer the chariot closer.

The Heavenly Dragon Treasure Chariot flew toward that continent and passed between the colossal buildings.

It was a dead divine city, its walls impossibly smooth, beyond anything the casting arts of the present day could forge.

Shen Mu saw this too, and something stirred in his heart. "This is a city of the Creators."

Luo Xiao too leaned at the window, gazing at the city outside, his eyes deep and dark, no one knowing what he was thinking.

The Heavenly Dragon Treasure Chariot flew out from that continent. The six heavenly dragons had grown immense, revealing their true forms, racing through the starry sky ever faster; and the chariot too grew immense, like the palace of the gods, incomparably magnificent.

Standing in the carriage and looking up, one could see the stars like a canopy, forming the wondrous vision of the Xuandu Heavenly Dao — utterly enchanting.

Dahong, Gu Xiao, and Luo Xiao all exclaimed in wonder; though they had boarded this treasure chariot, they had not yet had time to examine it closely.

Now, looking closely, they were struck with awe: the splendor of this chariot surpassed even the craftsmanship and manufacture of the present day — even the Heaven Emperor's own carriage could not compare!

"Where did Mu Qing get such a lavish treasure chariot?" Both were deeply puzzled.

Mu Tianzun had been enfeoffed as a Tianzun for establishing his Dao through divine arts — but could one man alone have studied divine arts to such a degree?

Dahong came to Shen Mu's side. Shen Mu was cultivating, driving his art, his vitality, divine consciousness, and primordial spirit made one; yet even Dahong could not see into Shen Mu's divine treasury or the scenes within his heavenly palaces.

"If that Gu Xiao were not here, I could study this boy thoroughly and see why he is so strong."

Dahong, all smiles, said, "Little brother, your divine arts are peerless. I have observed the holy ones of the world, and none can surpass you. What is this art of yours?"

"It has nothing to do with the art."

Shen Mu opened his eyes, clear and pure, and said earnestly, "It has to do with my constitution."

Dahong gave an "oh" and asked humbly, "Might I ask what constitution that is, little brother?"

"The Overlord Constitution!"

Shen Mu could not help but radiate immense confidence. "My constitution is called the Overlord Constitution. The reason I could establish my Dao through divine arts and stand far above every holy one in the world is that my constitution is the finest — the Overlord Constitution, unmatched under heaven. Others spend centuries pondering divine arts and may still fail to master them; I study a little and master them, ponder a little more and enter the Dao!"
