From the first time Cloud Venerable set foot on this unfamiliar world, he had often come here to counsel the Creator race, explaining strategy and deception to Lang Wan and the other Creators in the hope of teaching them how to lie—yet with little result. It was decided by the environment in which the Creator race dwelt. These were Creators who yearned for a life free of care; otherwise they would not have fled here and established the Great Void.
It was decided equally by the way they cultivated their divine sense.
Among the Creators there was no need for falsehood, no need for deceit; when they communicated through their divine senses, the lightest touch of one consciousness against another revealed everything in the other's heart, so lies and deception had no soil in which to take root.
In the past, the First Spirit Luo Xiao had been able to leave the Great Void and gather intelligence abroad precisely because he was the cleverest of the Creator race.
Yet even Luo Xiao had never learned to deceive. What Lang Wan and the others had not foreseen was how cruel Cloud Venerable's final lesson to the Creators would be.
So cruel that it meant deceiving their kinsmen on another continent, using a million lives and the destruction of the Great Void to cripple the Great Emperor's power! And those ninety-eight elders and chiefs had actually supported his proposal!
The only purpose of Cloud Venerable and those ninety-eight chiefs and elders was to trade a million lives for a hundred thousand lives.
That day, the young maiden Lang Wan went through the hours in a haze.
She saw the other Great Void utterly destroyed—the vast boundless continent, the starry sky the Creators had made, the countless stars, the mountains, rivers, lakes, and seas they had created, and every living thing that had come from their hands—all annihilated, turned into a torrent of ownerless divine sense. The consequences of that collapse of divine sense were too severe: the entire Great Void was plunged into a great horror in which whatever one thought became real.
Inner demons made the place unspeakably fearful; chaotic, dreadful, ownerless divine sense could perceive the demon in your heart and turn it into reality!
Likewise, that dreadful divine sense would come into contact with your own and pollute it.
This supreme pure land had been utterly defiled, and the other Great Void would, no doubt, soon be destroyed as well, because the Great Emperor had already arrived.
Following the scheme of Cloud Venerable and the others, the ninety-eight chiefs and elders fought a bloody battle against the Great Emperor, dying one after another, until at last they lured him into a trap. The trap had been designed by the three Heavenly Venerables—Cloud, Moon, and Ling—against the Great Emperor's Daluo Supreme Divine Sense, laid out to exploit the weaknesses in his divine sense. And the price had been horrifying.
To execute the Great Emperor, they had not hesitated to use his own hand to destroy the Great Void, filling it with chaotic, ownerless divine sense so as to suppress his cultivation.
To execute the Great Emperor, they had nearly offered up the sacred relics that countless people of every race had labored over, offering day-and-night sacrifices, in order to bind him fast. They lured him onto the Lotus Continent, activated the trap the three Heavenly Venerables had designed, and used the Way of Creation to restrain the creations of his divine sense.
Innumerable thick rootlike tendrils burst through the flesh of both legs, piercing into the Lotus Continent and pinning his physical body in place.
They fought a desperate, death-defying battle and forced the Great Emperor to unfold his Supreme Divine-Sense Domain. Yet once that Supreme Divine-Sense Domain was unfolded, the Great Emperor's death was sealed.
