But the Heaven Sphere of the Lapis Lazuli Azure Heaven Banner was an ancient god egg born in the Ancestral Court vein, and its vision and knowledge were in no way inferior to those of Xiao Heavenly Venerable, that ancient god and Heavenly Emperor! Shen Mu knew that the two ancient god eggs he had obtained were both on their guard against him, so he simply summoned the void beast he had subdued and let it have its head, letting the ancient god egg within the Lapis Lazuli Azure Heaven Banner lead him to a treasure site.
The void beast traveled for three days at extraordinary speed, flitting past like a shadow in the light; other void beasts had no time to make it out before it had already gone by. This day, the void beast finally came to a stretch of desolate land and went no further. Shen Mu stood on high ground and looked around.
Everywhere he saw dilapidated mine shafts, like black holes bored deep into the earth, winding and twisting down into an ancient mountain range. From those mine shafts, faint rays of auspicious light rose, and treasure aura hung in the air. The prehistoric Creators had left behind here the traces of their mining.
Yet nothing remained now but great towering skeletons — the bones of those Creators. In the distance the ground split open, revealing several large eyeballs rolling and rolling; those were void beasts nearby, quietly taking their measure. Shen Mu paid them no mind.
He put away the Lapis Lazuli Azure Heaven Banner and was about to step into the camp the Creators had left behind, when suddenly he saw a slender, graceful woman walk out from that camp.
Their eyes met, and both were stunned. "Gong Heavenly Venerable," Shen Mu said in greeting.
"Mu Heavenly Venerable. " Gong Heavenly Venerable returned the greeting.
"I have already repaid your kindness in the Battle of Yaochi. Mu Heavenly Venerable, there is no debt between us now. This is the vein of my Nuxin clan.
I will not yield it to you.
" Hearing her admit with her own lips that she was one of the three Heavenly Venerables who had saved him in the Battle of Yaochi, Shen Mu still could not help feeling a pang of loss: "So it truly was not Fire Heavenly Venerable.
" "My apologies for the intrusion. " Shen Mu bowed, patted the void beast, and said, "I will go look for another treasure site.
"
