Behind Shen Mu, Wei Suifeng led fifty thousand Yulin soldiers in bowing as one, their voices thunderous in unison: "Thank you, benefactor!
" The river boomed, thrashed into countless ripples, and on both banks of the Surging River the birds rose in a single flight.
Shen Mu turned and raised Wei Suifeng to his feet, laid both hands upon his shoulders, and laughed heartily: "Eldest Senior Brother, what need for such ceremony?
All of you, rise at once! " At the sight, King Longbo, Feng Qiuyun, and the rest could not help but change countenance, their hearts tight with dread.
Wei Suifeng, the Yunluo Emperor, a mighty one at the peak of the Great Emperor throne, plus tens of thousands of Yulin soldiers: that force was enough to sweep the Primal World!
Save, of course, for the Primal World's divine artifact, the Heavenly Venerable Yu.
From this day, Jingping at last possessed the strength to contend for the world, even if it were the least of such strengths, a strength it nonetheless was!
"King Longbo, Sister Qiuyun, Lin Xiao, swear your oath to the Little Earth Lord!
" Shen Mu's gaze swept over them.
"The Little Earth Lord?
" Their hearts were uneasy; not one of them knew who this Little Earth Lord might be. But circumstance outweighed the man, and they had no choice but to do as Shen Mu said and swear to the Little Earth Lord.
What puzzled them was that they had sworn to the Little Earth Lord and yet received no answer from him at all, which left them startled and delighted both, for they thought the pact was of no use. They did not know that this Little Earth Lord was not here at all, but in the Great Void.
The moment they set foot in the Great Void, or the moment Shen Fengqing came from the Great Void to this place, the oath to the Little Earth Lord would at once take effect; and then, if they had not rebelled, well and good, but if they did rebel, they would meet with but one end.
"Senior Brother, will you remain in Jingping, or go to the Great Void? " Shen Mu said.
"If you remain in Jingping, you and your soldiers may seize the chance to absorb the fruits of the Jingping Reforms and make up the shortfall of several hundred thousand years.
If you go to the Great Void, then you will stand in direct confrontation with the Heavenly Court. " Wei Suifeng pondered a moment, then said: "Stay in Jingping for now; in some years we shall go to the Great Void.
" Shen Mu nodded lightly.
Wei Suifeng had considerations of his own.
The Yulin Army still wielded the Dao arts and divine powers of the Longhan era; not only were they no match for Jingping, they could not even match the Heavenly Court of today. Their realms were high, the lowest among them at the Jade Capital realm, yet in strength, set against the Heavenly Court's soldiers, they were merely equal to the God-Slaying Platform, or even the Jade Pool realm!
And set against Jingping's soldiers, their strength was lower still, equal only to Jade Pool realm heavenly gods; facing a monstrous figure like a leader of the Jingping Reforms, they would likely not even match a heavenly god, for a true god realm reform leader would suffice to stand on even footing with them. The age does not stand still; and if it did stand still, that would indeed be an age of utter sorrow and despair.
Yet the Yulin Army's natural gifts were exceedingly high, every one of them a genius; once they absorbed the fruits of the Jingping Reforms, to surpass the Heavenly Court's soldiers, even to draw level with Jingping's gods, would be nothing to speak of! Shen Mu and Wei Suifeng bowed to one another in farewell. "In time I too will hasten to the Great Void to see how the fighting goes there.
You go first and meet the Earth Virtue Venerable.
She is now half-sovereign of the Primal World, with the authority to build palaces and station troops. Jingping's forces are few, after all; with you to support her, the Earth Virtue Venerable truly may rule half the Primal World.
