Chapter 925 — The Creator's Enigma

The Herdsman of the Wasteland Page 2 of 2

Could it be that Wei Suifeng, having obtained the creation divine stone, discovered that the ancient gods' Heavenly Emperor was that leader of the creators—and was suppressed for it?

"I cannot think of who this creator might be."

Shen Mu's gaze flickered. He walked outward and said with a smile, "But I can be certain he is within the Heavenly Court. This trip to the Heavenly Court grows more and more interesting. Brother Qi, Fat Dragon, we should head back!"

Yan'er landed on his shoulder, and Long Qilin and Qi Jiuyi hurried to follow him out.

Shen Mu came again to that row of reliefs, carefully studying the images of the prehistoric creators opening up another world with their powerful divine consciousness.

Qi Jiuyi urged, "There is no telling when the Heavenly Duke on that altar will finish taking form—we must leave quickly!"

Shen Mu agreed, yet his gaze remained fixed on the relief.

The secret the relief revealed was truly terrifying: to recreate a world from the void with incomparably powerful divine consciousness, to reshape heaven and earth. If they could truly succeed, would these creators not have been able to survive the war against the ancient gods?

Beyond this world, might there not exist another—a world where a host of powerful creators, rhombic crystals set in their brows, tilled the void and planted stars, kindling their light?

Would these creators ever return to this world?

Could the Kaihuang Land of No Sorrow, which the Heavenly Court had never been able to find, be connected to the world the creators opened?

Whether it was the scholar Zixi, the Celestial Master, or Princess Zhen and others who came from the Land of No Sorrow, none of them had initially wished Shen Mu to return there, saying it was exceedingly dangerous.

If the Land of No Sorrow was built within the world the creators opened, could it be these creators who brought danger to that land?

"Sect Master Shen, we must go!" Qi Jiuyi seized Shen Mu without further ado and raced outward with him.

Shen Mu withdrew his gaze and ran out after him. Long Qilin dashed to the front of the two and said, "Sect Master, Third Brother, climb on my back—I will carry you out."

The two landed on his back, and Long Qilin immediately picked up speed, soon reaching the altar and racing past it.

In the depression at the altar's center, the condensed liquid light had grown much greater than before. In the brows of the withered bones encircling the altar, faint glows shone from the crystals.

Shen Mu was alarmed. "Fat Dragon, go—now!"

Long Qilin shot into the sky, flying toward the Phoenix Ship in midair.

Shen Mu and Qi Jiuyi looked back. Below, the light from the crystals in the withered bones' brows was rapidly intensifying. Suddenly, with a resonant hum, rays of light shone down upon the altar's center!

In that depression the liquid light churned, and halos of radiance expanded outward layer by layer, ring by ring—then erupted!

Then the light surged skyward, and a colossal thing burst through the layers and rings of radiance. The shattered light became ribbons of blinding brilliance; the unbroken halos became circles standing behind the giant's head.

The Heavenly Duke!

The Heavenly Duke weapon formed from the divine-consciousness creations of the prehistoric creators!

The Heavenly Duke raised its head, growing ever taller, and stretched out a hand to seize Long Qilin, who was straining desperately toward the Phoenix Ship.

On Shen Mu's shoulder, Yan'er's feathers suddenly flared outward, flight feathers scattering, and in an instant she transformed into a giant dragon sparrow. She took Shen Mu, Qi Jiuyi, and Long Qilin onto her back and bore them soaring upward, narrowly avoiding the Heavenly Duke's palm, and rushed toward the Phoenix Ship!

Qi Jiuyi clutched Yan'er's feathers for dear life and shouted to the soldiers on the Phoenix Ship, "Set sail—now!"

On the Phoenix Ship, more than six thousand deities immediately channeled their powers. The phoenix spread its wings—vast wings unfurling one after another—and the ship began to move.

Yan'er flew in and landed on the deck, taking several steps before she came to a stop.

Shen Mu, Qi Jiuyi, and Long Qilin immediately slid down from her back. No sooner had Long Qilin landed on the deck than he discovered a small thing clinging desperately to his dragon tail. Looking closely, it was the palm-sized little Tubo Shen Mu had created from the void.

Long Qilin picked the little thing up, intending to ask Shen Mu what to do with it, but Shen Mu and Qi Jiuyi and the others were each unleashing their vital energy, desperately urging the Phoenix Ship forward, with no attention to spare for such a matter.

"If this little fellow is left here, he certainly will not survive a day—better to let him come along."

With this thought, Long Qilin set the little Tubo down. The tiny creature was fierce, bellowing at him with a most savage look.

Long Qilin thought for a moment, glanced around, and seeing that Shen Mu and Yan'er were not looking his way, took out a spirit pill and stuffed it into the fierce little creature's arms, whispering, "Don't make a fuss—be careful the sect master and Sister Yan'er do not find out I have been hiding a lot of spirit pills..."

The little Tubo hugged the spirit pill to his chest. The pill was rather too big for him, and he struggled to hold it, at a loss as to what he should do with this round lump.

"It is food," Long Qilin coaxed, and took out another spirit pill, popping it into his own mouth.

The little Tubo followed suit, hugging the pill and taking a bite—but the pill was too big and his mouth too small, so he could bite off only a tiny bit.

Long Qilin beamed. "How is it? Not bad, is it?"

The little Tubo plopped down on his bottom and gnawed earnestly at the pill. His appetite was tiny; having nibbled a little more than half, his belly was already round as a drum, and he could eat no more—yet he still hugged the half pill and would not let go.

Long Qilin picked him up and tucked him into his ear, saying, "Do not make noise—be careful you are not found out. Sleep like a good little one and digest your meal."

Suddenly Shen Mu's voice rang out, loud and clear: "Watch out for the Heavenly Bell!"

Long Qilin hurriedly looked back and saw the Heavenly Duke, halos layered behind its head, cupping its hands in a hollow embrace—above its head appeared a great bell formed of light.

The bell was immense beyond measure, spinning in the air above that continent. It had been facing downward, but now it had turned over, facing the Phoenix Ship.

The Heavenly Bell of the thirty-sixth heavenly dao!

The bell tolled. The space behind the Phoenix Ship shook violently, and everyone aboard the ship was struck as if by lightning—their bodies shuddered, cracked, and they were flung up by the shockwave, flailing, scattering in all directions!
