And you, Divine King Shujun! " Divine King Shujun laughed heartily: "Juyu, it has been a long time! In those days you beat this old man to a sorry state, and now you are in the bottle while I am outside it!
" The Great Emperor raged: "Shujun, you are a Divine King of the Creators, yet you bite the hand that feeds you and scheme against me alongside the human race! And you, woman, you are the leader of the Creators, yet you have plotted against me twice, scheming against the Great Emperor of the Creator race! " Divine King Langwan said calmly: "You destroyed the Creator race; you ceased to be our Great Emperor long ago.
Juyu, today we have merely collected a little interest. " Shujun's face turned anxious, and he said hurriedly: "No time for idle talk with him!
Watch the thirty-fifth void; beware an attack from his spiritual-consciousness Daluo Heaven!
" Shen Mu dispersed the Soul-Reeling Art and picked up the jade bottle, only to find it still leaping and bounding in his palm, as though it meant to break free of his hand and pierce through the air. Fortunately, with the seals of Divine King Langwan and Divine King Shujun in place, the power coming from the bottle was not great, and it remained within his control.
Shujun and Divine King Langwan each sat cross-legged in the lotus posture, and from between their brows layer upon layer of light, like layer upon layer of twisted foam, streamed forth without cease, sinking deep into the void.
They were evidently preparing to join forces to seal the thirty-fifth void and stop the Great Emperor's spiritual-consciousness Daluo Heaven. As for the doctrine of the voids, the wisdom the Creators of the Ancient Spirit Realm had passed to Shen Mu described it in concrete terms.
In the antiquity the Creators inhabited, the soul was of no account; what mattered was spiritual consciousness, and how to protect one's own spiritual consciousness mattered above all. To lodge one's spiritual consciousness in the void allowed one to join with heaven and earth and endure far longer.
The Creators fashioned things with spiritual consciousness. To them, any place where one could create and lodge one's spiritual consciousness was a void, and the actual universe was the first void. To break through the first void and bring one's consciousness to another, more illusory level was the second void.
One who could create within the second void might attempt a further breakthrough and reach the third void. The third void was more illusory still, ethereal and insubstantial.
And so on: layer after layer of void was opened up by the Creators, and the deeper the void, the longer one's spiritual consciousness could be preserved. Yet in the wisdom of the Ancient Spirit Realm there was only the thirty-fifth void; there was no record of the thirty-sixth void, the ultimate void.
In truth, upon reaching the thirty-fifth void, a Creator's spiritual consciousness already shared the lifespan of heaven and earth and would never be worn away, enjoying eternal quiet there; only the destruction of the universe would bring them death. Even so, in antiquity there had been Creators who could find the thirty-fifth void and refine away the spiritual consciousness others had lodged there, erasing their enemies, proof that lodging in the void was not truly so secure.
The thirty-sixth void, the ultimate void; Shen Mu had only ever heard Shujun mention that such a layer existed.
What its precise use was, he did not know. With his present cultivation of spiritual consciousness, entering ten layers of void would already be counted good. The only one who had ever entered the thirty-sixth void was the Great Emperor.
There the Great Emperor lodged his spiritual consciousness and forged the spiritual-consciousness Daluo Heaven; from antiquity to the present, through countless great calamities, he had not died, which itself showed how formidable the ultimate void was.
"One day, when my spiritual consciousness is cultivated to the Great Emperor's level, I must go and see the ultimate void for myself! But for now. .
. " Shen Mu put away the jade bottle and called out loudly: "Dutian, rouse the chariot, we are running!
" In the distance, Demon King Dutian at once summoned nine heavenly dragons and drove the Heavenly Dragon Treasure Chariot racing over like wind and lightning.
Shen Mu seized the motionless Shujun and Divine King Langwan, sprang onto the chariot, and said in a low voice: "The faster the better; try to throw off the spiritual-consciousness Daluo Heaven!
" Demon King Dutian bellowed, raised his whip, and lashed the nine heavenly dragons.
Stung by pain, the nine dragons ran with all their might, speeding away in a flash of lightning. Demon King Dutian raised his whip and cracked it forward again and again, until one of the dragons could bear it no longer and turned its head to call out: "Hey, fellow, stop whipping us! We are not mindless beasts.
Say the word and we will run ourselves to death; is there any need to whip us so savagely? " Demon King Dutian started, hastily put away his whip, and mumbled without a word.
The Heavenly Dragon Treasure Chariot went faster and faster, but aboard it Shen Mu saw that the brows of Divine King Shujun and Divine King Langwan were slick with cold sweat, and that the radiance of spiritual consciousness pouring from the diamond-shaped vertical eyes at their brows grew thicker and thicker, reaching straight to the thirty-fifth void. They seemed to be under enormous pressure; plainly the Great Emperor, in his fury, still had them locked firmly in his sights, and had not lost them merely because the Heavenly Dragon Treasure Chariot had left its place.
Shen Mu frowned and said: "Dutian, can this chariot not enter the Dark Capital? Drive it into the Dark Capital!
" Demon King Dutian hastily passed the order, and with a great booming crash the chariot plunged into the Dark Capital.
All around them turned murky and indistinct, and only the nine heavenly dragons, blue thunder rolling about their bodies, drew the chariot racing on through the darkness. The two Divine Kings, Shujun and Langwan, suddenly felt an immense weight lifted and came to their senses together. "That was close, that was close!
" Divine King Langwan wiped the cold sweat from her brow and praised: "The Great Emperor is truly extraordinary; he pressed us until we could scarcely breathe!
But I also took the chance to locate the ultimate void!
" Seeing that the two were unharmed, Shen Mu finally breathed a sigh of relief. Shujun looked around, and his expression shifted slightly: "Holy Infant, where is this? " Divine King Langwan also looked around, and her face changed drastically.
Trembling, she said: "Can this be the Dark Capital? " Ahead of the Heavenly Dragon Treasure Chariot, two long fiery Yellow Springs descended from the sky; those were the two horns of the Earth Lord, horns composed of countless shattered worlds, and the water of the Yellow Springs was molten lava.
And before this incomparably colossal ancient god floated a divine artifact, Yutianzun. Though only a tenth the size of the Earth Lord's true body, it was still vast beyond measure! "Go, quickly!
" Shujun shouted sternly: "The Earth Lord is the mortal enemy of us Creators!
" Shen Mu hesitated an instant. He was about to have Demon King Dutian turn the chariot and drive out of the Dark Capital when he saw the peerless Earth Lord slowly turn his head, three eyes gazing in their direction. Cold sweat broke out on Divine King Langwan's brow once more.
She flew from the chariot and planted herself before the Heavenly Dragon Treasure Chariot. "Holy Infant, you promised me you would look after my Creator race!
Do not forget your promise!
" Without turning her head, she said: "You go on ahead! " Suddenly Shen Mu appeared before her, reached out, and with a stroke of his hand opened a Heaven-Bearing Gate.
