Chapter 1176 — Wealth Most Beguiles the Heart

Heavenly Venerable Hong, for his part, had also chosen a precious ground, though this one was different: it was a great marsh, and it had once been the place where the Heavenly River and the host of stars took their origin. Later, as the heavens rose ever higher, the Heavenly River rose higher as well.

From that time on, the Heavenly River and Xuandu climbed ever higher.

And the place of Xuandu's origin was this very marsh.

"If the Ancestral Court is shattered, will my Xuandu come tumbling down as well? And at that time, the Way of Heaven will be no more, will it not?"

Heavenly Venerable Hong looked all about him, heaved a long, faint sigh, and made ready to build his own palace and raise up a Heavenly Venerable's treasure to suppress the ground. In his heart he thought, "The Ancient God Egg within the Lapis Azure Heaven Banner has been brought here by Heavenly Venerable Mu after all; whether it bodes fortune or disaster, who can say... The course of Heaven has its constancy, yet the Way of Heaven knows no kin. What should I do?"

He pondered a long while and made no move.

Within the Taichu ore vein, Heavenly Venerable Xiao hung up a sword to hold the vein in place. Casting his gaze toward the place of the chaos ore vein, he said coldly, "Absurd! The Taiyi ore vein has collapsed, and that dreadful existence has come into the world after all. Fortunately, the seal of the Ancestral Court has not been broken..."

Heavenly Venerable Gong likewise looked toward the chaos ore vein and knitted her brows slightly, just as Heavenly Consort Qiang's voice came drifting over, saying with a charming laugh, "Sister Gong, your little sister has come to call."

Heavenly Venerable Gong withdrew her gaze and showed the faintest smile. "Sister Qiang, please come in and sit."

Leaning on the Azure Heaven Banner, Shen Mu let the Void Beast carry him where it would. Several more days passed; gazing far into the distance, he saw that Heavenly Venerable Yan's palace stood directly ahead.
