Chapter 1332 — The Spirit Finger Shatters the Primordial
The Herdsman of the Wasteland Page 1 of 2
Xu Shenghua and Lan Yutian, struck by a sudden flash of understanding, bowed low to the white-haired elder and gave him thanks.
The elder lifted his staff and gave it the slightest flick, and the Chaos Sea split open, revealing a road. Hastily the two led the three thousand divine beings and the giant beasts into the Chaos Sea, where they saw the chaotic qi on either side rearing up like cliffs, sheer beyond measure and dreadful to behold. Were that chaotic qi to come pressing down, they would all be ground to powder and assimilated into chaos itself!
Once they had entered the sea, the white-haired elder planted his staff in the ground and said, "My place here is rather shabby.
There used to be somewhere to put one's feet up, but then Heaven Venerable Mu arrived, and it collapsed. " Xu Shenghua said in astonishment, "Sect Master Shen has been here?
He tore your place down?
" The white-haired elder said helplessly, "Isn't that so? He saw I had set the eggshell down here, assumed I no longer wanted it, and simply carried it off. What he did not know was that I left the eggshell behind because I relied upon it to hold this ore lode steady.
After he took it, this place caved in and became a sea of chaos.
" Lan Yutian laughed.
"That is exactly my brother's way.
How should we address you, Elder? " "Everyone calls me Taiyi," said the white-haired elder with a smile.
"The war of the Heaven Venerables is about to begin.
" Xu Shenghua's heart turned cold.
Any name that carried the prefix Tai belonged to a formidable old monster—the Great Emperor, Taichu—beings who had existed since the most ancient of times! Others, even the oldest of the ancient gods, had no Tai in their names: Tu Bo, the Lord of Heaven, the Mother Earth—not one of them bore it. This old man was called Taiyi; he was surely a figure of the same age as Taichu and the Great Emperor—perhaps even older!
Lan Yutian, however, did not think so far ahead.
They raised their heads and looked up, and there in the sky above, the divine consciousness of Divine Emperor Langxuan was charging toward the mother beast, which was shielded by layer upon layer of Void Beasts.
All at once the countless Void Beasts lifted their eyelids and bared ferocious maws, shrieking with a sound so piercing it battered his divine consciousness. But how mighty was the divine consciousness of Divine Emperor Langxuan?
It swept forth in vast, rolling waves, and in an instant the countless Void Beasts lost their wits and tumbled from the sky like rain.
Divine Emperor Langxuan was worthy of the name of Heaven Venerable: with his divine consciousness alone, without expending the least mana, he rendered all the uncanny arts of these incomparably formidable Void Beasts utterly useless.
His divine consciousness went straight to the Void Mother Beast and, deep as an abyss and vast as a sea, poured into her brain.
Divine Emperor Langxuan smiled. "Little junior, last time you had the luck to slip away from me.
Now there is nowhere left for you to run. " "Is that so?
" The terrifying divine consciousness hidden within the Void Mother Beast's brain erupted, and in a single instant it shattered the divine consciousness of Divine Emperor Langxuan; the next moment that consciousness came gushing out of the mother beast's mind and hurled itself back at him. Divine Emperor Langxuan's expression changed drastically—the consciousness surging toward him was even stronger than his own, and at once he understood exactly who the mother beast's master was.
"This mother beast is already in the Great Emperor's grip! When I met her last time, her master was still the mount of Heaven Venerable Mu; now it has become the Great Emperor!
" His reaction was swift beyond words: instantly his divine consciousness formed itself into a defensive formation, and at the same moment one heavenly palace after another leapt out behind him, linking into a single Heavenly Court.
His mana stirred, and in that instant it transformed into defensive runes; the runes wove themselves into dao patterns that coiled about his whole body.
"Innate One Qi! " The bloodline he had inherited from Heavenly Emperor Taichu erupted, and the Innate One Qi marshaled all the great daos stored within his heavenly palaces, binding them into one whole and vastly increasing his defense.
In bloodline he was the finest in all the world, possessing at once the blood of the Creator God King and that of Heavenly Emperor Taichu; he commanded both the Way of Divine Consciousness and the Innate One Qi within the Way of Taichu. Compared with Heaven Venerable Hao, he was the more perfect!
Yet within him the Way of Divine Consciousness and the Innate One Qi were not unified.
Had they been—had they formed the complete Way of Taichu—he would have surpassed Heaven Venerable Hao and become the leader of the Ten Heaven Venerables. But in truth it was Heaven Venerable Hao who stood at the head of the Ten Heaven Venerables, the orthodox ruler of the Heavenly Court, enjoying the greater share of its resources.
The Ancestral God King was merely one among the Ten, and ordinarily kept his brilliance hidden. Even so, the gaps between the Ten Heaven Venerables were not great.
Now he erupted with all his strength; the heavenly palaces behind him multiplied without cease, climbing from eighteen to thirty-four, forming a Great Heavenly Court.
Yet before his momentum could reach its peak, the Great Emperor's fist had already crashed into his face. The Great Emperor's attacks were simple and crude.
In the most ancient era he had been the strongest of emperors, and he had no need of any flashy divine-consciousness arts—his fist was his mightiest weapon.
Divine Emperor Langxuan's face contorted and burst open; his head snapped backward, his body like a sheet of paper folded at a right angle. The Great Emperor, who had obtained the Primordial Stone of Taichu, was powerful beyond belief; even a fearsome being like Divine Emperor Langxuan could not withstand a single blow from him.
Yet in the very instant that Langxuan's body bent, the Great Heavenly Court art erupted: the Innate One Qi, bearing a terrifying divine consciousness, smashed into the Great Emperor, who had appeared in a flash.
That was his Primordial Spirit One Qi Art—the sum of every insight of his life. To all demigods he was indeed the Primordial Spirit: the first demigod, the most ancient of Primordial Spirits.
The Primordial Spirit One Qi Art unified thirty-four Emperor Throne cultivation arts, its might supreme, supremely hard, supremely fierce. He knew well the secret of striking where the enemy must needs defend himself.
The Great Emperor had seized the initiative; whatever he did now to hold him off, he would be forced onto the defensive, his advantages slipping away one by one until at last he was defeated and slain.
The best course was to strike where the Great Emperor must save himself, throwing him onto the defensive and turning the situation around.
The Great Emperor's towering frame blotted out half the sky, and a mocking smile spread across his face.
The Primordial Stone of Taichu set in his brow blazed with light, and he let Langxuan's blow land upon him. His body was stronger even than when he had crossed blows with Heaven Venerable Hao; beneath Langxuan's attack it merely swayed. The next moment his palm chopped down upon Langxuan's upflung neck.
Divine Emperor Langxuan's neck split open under the blow, his head all but struck from his shoulders!
And in that instant his Primordial Spirit rose out of the Great Heavenly Court, enthroned within it, and pointed a finger. The finger flew out like a streak of flowing light; gathered into that single point were all the innate daos stored within the thirty-four heavenly palaces, and the radiance that burst from its tip surpassed the sun by countless tens of thousands of times.
