Chapter 1855 — Something Forgotten

The Blossom Guardian

Inside the business van, Zhao Qibing, who a moment ago had been boasting loudly, fell silent at the sight of the three Earth-rank experts who had vanished before his eyes!

Kang Zhaoming, too, stared blankly, unable to believe what he was seeing. One move? Truly one move? Three Earth-rank experts—just gone, like that? He could scarcely credit it. That Wei Zhao who had been beaten to a pulp and left covered in wounds by You Shisan—how had he suddenly become so terrifying?

"Run... run..." Yu Huoxing forced two words out of his throat, nearly frightened out of his wits. Was this even human? One move, and three Earth-rank experts were annihilated—one of them a late Earth-rank, no less. Could Wei Zhao have already ascended to Heaven-rank, and all this time been playing the pig to eat the tiger?

Yu Huoxing's words jolted Zhao Qibing and Kang Zhaoming back to their senses. The business van belonged to the Zhao family, and Zhao Guang'er had been driving—but now there was no driver. Zhao Qibing scrambled and tumbled into the driver's seat, started the engine, and stomped the accelerator to the floor, fleeing this horrifying place like a madman!

"Phew..." Only when Yu Huoxing sensed that Wei Zhao had not noticed the van on this side, nor given chase, did he let out a long breath!

Thank heavens he had not been foolish enough to go seek revenge—otherwise he would have died without even knowing how. Truly, without knowing how. Yu Huoxing was an Earth-rank expert, yet he could not discern what martial art Wei Zhao had used, to conjure in the space of a single gesture a crimson mist that rolled like wind-swept clouds, blotting out the sky and sun, and then in an instant blast a man into nothing but ash—it was simply too eerie and too horrifying.

Zhao Qibing and Kang Zhaoming were scared out of their wits as well. Three Earth-rank experts—in their eyes, lofty, invincible beings—and not one could last a single move against Wei Zhao? And now, at last, Zhao Qibing believed what Zhao Qitan had told him: Wei Zhao, that creature, would every so often make a pile of enemies, then find it too much trouble to go after them—so he would feign injury, or qi deviation, or total loss of strength, and wait at home for his foes to come knocking, then cut them down one by one...

At this thought, Zhao Qibing felt a chill run down his spine. Too sinister—this creature had truly become addicted to playing the pig to eat the tiger!

Never again. He would absolutely not be fooled next time. Anyone who went again was a fool—a great big fool!

Kang Zhaoming was cursing inwardly too. What a con! Had he known Wei Zhao was this formidable, he would never have had You Shisan stir up trouble with him. Now look at the mess—who knew whether the Hidden You family could even spare any more experts to come hold the fort!

"Let's go back..." Though Wei Zhao had won, his heart was still pounding with lingering fear!

If even one small link in the chain had gone wrong earlier, he could never have achieved that one-move annihilation. Of course, the result had far exceeded Wei Zhao's own expectations—he had never dreamed he could burn all three of them to ash.

As Wei Zhao saw it, expelling the fire-poison true qi from his body would only waste it. Better to make use of the waste—treat it like a true-qi bomb and give the three of them a taste. Even if it was not as heaven-defying as a true-qi bomb, it could still deal them grave injury; and so long as the three experts were badly hurt, he would have a chance to escape. But who would have thought the blast would be so thorough—the three of them simply ceased to exist.

What Wei Zhao did not know, however, was that this was fire-poison true qi born of the second layer of the Xuanyuan Dragon-Taming Art—true qi that even the Ice Spirit Sacred Fruit could not fully suppress. With ordinary qi deviation, once one had taken the Ice Spirit Sacred Fruit, there was no need to expel the fire poison oneself at all.

"Arrow Brand Bro, where did they go?" Shen Yushu blinked.

"Turned to ash..." Wei Zhao pointed at the ground, at the fine particles the wind had not yet scattered.

"Holy crap, Arrow Brand Bro, you're too awesome—you can actually unleash a fire-element ultimate skill!" Shen Yushu exclaimed. "Heh..." Wei Zhao smiled wryly. Only he knew that a move like this could be used just once—was he supposed to suffer qi deviation again and expel that much fire-poison true qi a second time?

This time it had been pure coincidence, and he had been lucky the three Earth-rank experts were standing together and let him hit them all at once. Otherwise, even if Wei Zhao had managed to burn two of them by some fluke, dealing with the third would have been harder than hard.

Granny Sun stared at Wei Zhao somewhat blankly, rubbed her eyes, then furrowed her brow, as if something had come to mind, yet it was not quite clear...

"Granny, let's go back..." Gu Mengyao glanced around. It was evening now, and no one else had passed through the alley, which set her mind at ease. Wei Zhao's move just now had taken only an instant—otherwise, those three Earth-rank experts would never have been given even the chance to flee.

"Ah... oh..." Only when Gu Mengyao called out did Granny Sun come back to herself, and she hurried back into the courtyard with Gu Mengyao.

Shen Yushu quickly locked the courtyard gate as well. She was thinking about how to explain the earlier events to Granny Sun in a way that would persuade her to keep the secret and not let it slip out.

Looking at Wei Zhao standing before her, whole and unharmed, Gu Mengyao felt as though she were dreaming. Was it over? Was everything truly over?

"Arrow Brand Bro, you're really awake? That's wonderful—no more picking through trash from now on!" Shen Yushu looked at Wei Zhao and shrieked with excitement. "You always wake up at the critical moment and then slaughter everyone in sight—so awesome!"

"Heh, it wasn't exactly the critical moment—actually, I woke up a while ago..." Wei Zhao said with a smile, but no sooner had the words left his mouth than he sensed something was off...

Sure enough, Gu Mengyao's face darkened. "A while ago?"

"Uh... I didn't see you take off your clothes..." Wei Zhao said.

"Mm-hmm?" Gu Mengyao's face darkened further...

"You'd taken half of them off—not all the way—when those three things at the gate interrupted you, so you put them back on..." Wei Zhao had let his tongue slip and could only scramble for a way to salvage it.

"Oh, I get it now—that's why Arrow Brand Bro was so furious and burned all three of those things to death!" Shen Yushu nodded.

"Exactly." Wei Zhao nodded.

"Wei Zhao!" Gu Mengyao swung her fist and hurled it at him. "I'm not done with you!"

"Uh..." Wei Zhao smiled bitterly. He had only just woken up and his thoughts were still a bit sluggish; then Shen Yushu's leading had coaxed the truth out of him, and he regretted it deeply.

"All right, Sister Yaoyao, you're Arrow Brand Bro's first wife anyway!" Shen Yushu said, winking at Gu Mengyao, then turned to Wei Zhao. "Arrow Brand Bro, have you forgotten the things from before? Let me remind you—Sister Yaoyao is your first wife, and I'm your little wife!"

"?" Wei Zhao looked at Shen Yushu rather oddly.
