Chapter 1955 — Depressed, and Then Depressed Again
Ying Ziyu had been a bit of a delinquent girl in her day, running with a crowd of grown men, and she had heard plenty of talk like this. Now she set about educating Chen Xi on the subject.
"Huh? Is that so?" Chen Xi was rather naive, but what Ying Ziyu said did seem to make a certain sense. Only — it was so embarrassing. She did not think she could do it.
"Of course it's so. No, I really must keep training you, or your chances won't amount to much!" Ying Ziyu said.
"Sister Ziyu, that... can I get by without the bed part...?" Chen Xi asked with a pained expression.
"How could you? That's the most important part of all!" Ying Ziyu said. "Don't worry, it's easy to learn. Wait till I get you a few little films — come over to my place and watch them, and you'll understand!"
"Ah... all right then..." Chen Xi agreed, silly and guileless as ever.
After coming out of First High School, Wei Zhao drove back to the villa district.
Since he had gone to Donghai City, no one had come to this villa for a long while. Wei Zhao opened the door and suddenly felt a kind of forlorn emptiness.
Wei Zhao did not dawdle; he went straight upstairs to the young miss's and Xiaoshu's bedroom on the second floor. This had once been forbidden ground to Wei Zhao, but later, once everyone's relations had grown harmonious, he had come up a few times — though unless there was some business, he still would not come.
Opening the young miss's wardrobe, Wei Zhao found a clean underwear storage box and took the bras, panties, and nightclothes out of the wardrobe one by one, placing them inside.
The young miss's and Xiaoshu's lingerie both tended toward the cute style, much of it printed with cartoon patterns — and yet even so, there was still something about it that set the imagination wandering.
Looking at the underwear before him, Wei Zhao could not help recalling the scene at Granny Sun's house, when the young miss had stripped off her clothes to take a bath. He promptly cursed those three Earth-rank bastards for having arrived at exactly the wrong moment — burning them to death with a single dose of fire poison had been too good for them!
Once the underwear was packed, Wei Zhao noticed a small box down at the bottom of the cabinet. He thought nothing of it, assuming it was new underwear still in its packaging, and picked it up offhandedly — but the moment it was in his hand, he gave a start.
"Damn, that big?" Wei Zhao stared at the enormous thing before him, stunned to his core. Such a gigantic female masturbation device — was it the young miss who used it, or Xiaoshu? Neither seemed likely. The young miss was certainly not that sort of person, and as for Xiaoshu... her personality might be a little fierce, but in Wei Zhao's view, she would not use something so terrifying either...
And yet it had turned up in the young miss's and Xiaoshu's cabinet, and apart from the two of them, there really was no one else.
Wei Zhao hesitated, unsure whether he ought to take the thing to them. He wanted to ask the young miss and Xiaoshu about it, but he was too embarrassed.
After brooding a moment, Wei Zhao simply stuffed the box into the storage box. He was bringing it to them anyway — if they did not want it, they could say so then.
He did not think too much about it. Perhaps Xiaoshu had bought it to play some prank on someone — who could say? That girl was always setting traps for others; buying a thing like this and stuffing it into Zhong Yongliang's or someone's schoolbag was not out of the question.
With all that packed, Wei Zhao put the storage box in the trunk of the car, then turned and went back to his own room, where he took out a male thief's mask.
After turning it over and over in his mind, Wei Zhao decided after all to go see Yu Xiaoke in the guise of the male thief. Last time he had gone to help her as Wei Zhao himself, and the girl had misunderstood the whole thing from start to finish; he could not be bothered to explain.
Yu Xiaoke had been going out of her mind lately. The orphanage's construction had now got onto a proper footing, and most of the buildings had been put up free of charge by Lai Pangzi's construction company — but she was still short of money. Yes, desperately short of money!
There was no other reason: Qiu Lingshan had recently broken up a criminal ring that specialized in abducting children and taking in vagrant children to train them as beggars, street performers, and thieves. The ring's boss was An Jiande — but An Jiande had been beaten half-crippled by Wei Zhao and sent back to the Fire Wolf Gang by Dr. Yin, after which his fate was unknown. His underlings knew nothing of all this and were still waiting bitterly for An Jiande's return when the police came knocking and wiped out their criminal den in one stroke.
The criminals were packed off to prison, but the abducted and vagrant children they had rounded up became a headache to place. The police published photographs of the children and waited for their parents to come claim them, while in the meantime sending them to the city orphanage to be fostered.
Of course, everyone knew perfectly well that apart from the few parents who might recognize their own children and take them home, most of the children would remain in the orphanage forever. Some had been sold off or abandoned in the first place by heartless parents — how would such people ever come to claim them back?
All at once the orphanage had more than two hundred extra children out of thin air — and that was more than two hundred extra mouths to feed. However rich Yu Xiaoke might be, she could not support them all. The money Wei Zhao had given her last time was essentially gone, and Yu Xiaoke was so frantic she was about to go back to her old trade!
In fact, the orphanage could perfectly well have refused to take in those two hundred-odd orphans. The orphanage's finances were not in good shape as it was, and taking on so many children all at once would surely add an enormous burden.
But Yu Xiaoke and the old director were kind-hearted people, and they had never run this orphanage to make money — it was done purely out of love. Yu Xiaoke had even gone to hospitals to adopt abandoned infants. Faced with so many homeless children, how could she possibly turn them away?
"Master, so many children... food, clothes, daily necessities — the expense is simply too great, we can't carry it... How about we talk to Boss Lai and borrow some money?" Unless it was absolutely unavoidable, Yu Xiaoke still did not want to borrow. She did not know why Wei Zhao was so good to her. Last time he had not only given her a sum of money, but now he had Lai Pangzi help build facilities for the orphanage in the spare time left over from the factory construction.
True, much of the material used was left over from the factory construction, and the work started at no fixed time, only whenever his construction company had spare capacity to come and help the orphanage build. The progress was slow, but even so, not a single cent had come out of the orphanage's pocket.
And so Yu Xiaoke was a little puzzled. What exactly was Wei Zhao after? She had made herself perfectly clear to him — that she had someone she liked and that there could never be anything between them — and yet he still did this, so clearly that could not be his motive...
But if it was not that, then what was it?
