When the cry of the Void Mother Beast subsided, Luo Xiao immediately steered the void beast to flee outward again. Entering the void was hard, but escaping it was rather easier; the void beast sped all the way, fleeing outward.
Suddenly Shen Mu looked back, and saw a claw the size of half the sky sweeping toward them!
"I must not die! " Shen Mu abruptly shouted at the top of his voice: "If I die, none of you can leave this place!
" Luo Xiao was baffled by his meaning, but just as Shen Mu's voice fell, the enormous claw of the Void Mother Beast seemed to strike some invisible obstacle, was deflected from its appointed course, and swept through empty air above them! Layer upon layer of void was torn apart by sheer force, a horrifying sight; had one looked up in the Ancestral Court, one would surely have seen through all nineteen voids at a single glance and made out that giant beast clearly!
Luo Xiao seized the chance, and before the void could close, drove the void beast charging outward with all its strength.
Then abruptly the roar of the void beast rang out, and the countless void beasts pursuing them fell like rain from the depths of the void!
The roar of the Void Mother Beast reached the ears of Shen Mu and the others, and on the altar almost everyone's heart, liver, spleen, lungs and kidneys were shattered by the shock, blood flowing from all seven openings; their divine consciousness was shaken into a pulpy mush, and they could no longer gather it!
The void beast beneath the altar, too, was shaken until its enormous body began to collapse; before long it would die amid the mother beast's cries. "I must not die! " Shen Mu, dazed and muddled, forced himself to hold on, and shouted: "If I die.
. .
" Before he could finish, the cry of the Void Mother Beast suddenly ceased, as though something had stopped its mouth. The void beast fell unconscious and plunged from the sky with the altar and everyone upon it; the crowd clung desperately to the altar, then were flung off, and hurriedly each caught hold of the mountain of bone behind the void beast's head. Shen Mu's primal energy swept up Long Qilin; Yan'er protected the six Heavenly Dragons, spreading her wings to shield the lantern lest it be extinguished.
Luo Xiao was not far from Shen Mu, and called out loudly: "Brother Mu, what sort of incantation was that? " Shen Mu had no time to answer; the void beast had already slammed into the ground, tumbling and rolling, knocking down several towering mountains. The peaks of those mountains were snapped off by sheer force, and from the mountain bodies the dazzling divine light unique to divine gold surged to the sky, painting the heavens with a sky full of dawn clouds, utterly resplendent.
Shen Mu caught a glimpse of this in his haste, and his heart was violently shaken: the bodies of those mountains were actually made of divine gold! The void beast slid onward, plowing deep furrows into the earth, and from the cracks burst the dazzling glare of divine iron, unbearably glaring.
Shen Mu squinted, but his eyes were still stung by the light of the divine iron, and tears came despite himself.
The soil the void beast turned up flew into the sky, and as it flew it abruptly swelled, transforming into patches of floating land.
"Xirang.
. .
" Forcing his tear-filled eyes open, Shen Mu stared blankly at the sight. The extravagance of this Ancestral Court exceeded his imagination!
Suddenly the void beast crashed into several mountains, tumbled and rolled, and fell into an enormous deep pit, its six legs sprawled at the bottom, motionless for a time.
Everyone rose to their feet.
Shen Mu circulated the Three-Core Mystic Body Art, and soon his body and spirit were restored to peak condition, brimming with vigor. He looked at Long Qilin, and saw that Long Qilin had also roused the Flawless Creation Mystic Art, restoring the damage to his body, and was even now helping Yan'er heal her wounds.
Shen Mu helped Luo Xiao up.
