Chapter 1186 — The Void Beasts Invade

This was Shen Mu pitting the Dao of formations he had learned from Jing Ping against a fearsome being like Taidi, a collision of intellect with intellect, a spectacle beyond compare. In the matter of marching armies and laying formations, Shen Mu had not fully brought out the Glazed Azure Heaven Canopy's use. To draw out the utmost power of the foremost supreme treasure under heaven, one would need to marshal an army of tens of thousands, arranging it around each precious treasure in each Heaven, and use the shifting of formations to slay the foe.

But now he was alone, unable to split himself into hundreds of thousands of gods and demons, and so he could only rely on the supreme treasure's basic might to contend with the Void Beasts.

The Void Beasts came like the tide, wave upon wave, battering one Heaven after another, a spectacle of incomparable grandeur.

Yet they could never break into the Great Black Peak; countless corpses fell, gradually filling the numberless valleys of the Black Wood, the heaps of dead rising ever higher.

But no one noticed that as the corpses fell, the blood of the Void Beasts was swiftly absorbed by the black mountains, not a drop of it left behind; soon the Void Beasts' bodies had become dried husks. In the distance, Heaven Venerable Hong, Heaven Venerable Hao, Heaven Venerable Gong, the Divine Emperor Langxuan, and others arrived, watching from afar as the beast horde besieged the Black Wood, and were greatly shaken.

After a long while, Heaven Venerable Xiao said in admiration, "Worthy indeed of the foremost supreme treasure under heaven.

" Suddenly the void split open.

A monstrous beast of sky-swallowing vastness thrust its head out above the Great Black Peak, opened its enormous maw, and with a crunch bit clean through one Heaven after another.

Eight Heavens in succession lost a great chunk to that single bite, and many of the precious treasures hanging within them were swallowed by this Void Mother Beast.

Shen Mu's heart lurched, and he saw the celestial orb of the Glazed Azure Heaven Canopy laid bare.
