Chapter 2462 — Expressing Gratitude

The Blossom Guardian

"This..." Wei Zhao scratched at his scalp, at a loss for how to explain.

"Brother Wei Zhao didn't peek at Sister Xinyan through the mirror," Han Jingyi said without lifting her head, still fiddling with the tablet in her hands.

Hearing this, Wei Zhao wanted to strangle her. The girl hadn't even raised her head a moment ago—how had she spotted it?

Only then did Wang Xinyan notice the mirror behind Wei Zhao. In other words, though Wei Zhao had turned away earlier, he could still see her through the mirror—and the embarrassment she had just managed to shake off came flooding back. She shot him a glare. "What kind of behavior is that?"

Wei Zhao felt rather awkward. He cleared his throat twice and changed the subject. "Bai Weituo and He Meiyue have taken over the room. I had nowhere to go, so I came here."

"Oh," Wang Xinyan said, sitting down on the bed, also somewhat awkward. Han Jingyi, having made her one remark, simply sat there continuing to scribble and sketch, leaving Wei Zhao and Wang Xinyan with nothing to say to each other.

"Do you... want to cultivate?" Wang Xinyan asked, breaking the awkward silence.

"Sure." Wei Zhao nodded and took a seat on the bed of his own accord.

Wang Xinyan quietly settled down beside Wei Zhao. After a moment's thought, she pulled off the fleece she had just put on, revealing the thermal underwear beneath. Her lovely figure lay fully exposed to Wei Zhao's gaze, and by now she seemed to feel no shame at all—he had seen her completely bare, so what was there to fear now?

Wei Zhao closed his eyes and began circulating the second layer of the Xuanyuan Dragon-Taming Art. Wang Xinyan cooperated to the utmost, sitting motionless at his side. In truth, the two of them had already drifted somewhat beyond her original plans and control, so all she could do was help Wei Zhao cultivate as quickly as possible, raise his strength to another level and carry him to a wholly new realm. As long as they need not fear the Xuandan Sect, she and Wei Zhao could be together openly and legitimately.

"Xinyan, may I hold you?" Wei Zhao realized he was rather restless today, his mind wandering every time he tried to cultivate. Catching the fragrance of Wang Xinyan's body, he wanted to take things a step further.

Wang Xinyan's whole body stiffened. She had not expected Wei Zhao to make such an unreasonable request!

Yet she could hardly refuse. She glanced at Han Jingyi not far away, who seemed utterly unconcerned with anything, then gave a faint hum through her nose—impossible to tell whether it meant yes or no.

Hearing that almost petulant little hum, Wei Zhao smiled slightly and drew Wang Xinyan into his arms. Her body visibly trembled, her breathing growing a little hurried. True, Wei Zhao had held her before during military training, but that had been while she was asleep and the night was bitterly cold; now, his intent seemed a touch deliberate.

Though Wei Zhao claimed it was for cultivation's sake, whether lust or the will to cultivate accounted for the greater share, Wang Xinyan could not tell.

Wei Zhao also sensed the stiffness in her body and did not press his luck. Having taken her in his arms, he made no other improper move, but began cultivating in proper form.

His attitude put Wang Xinyan at ease and gladdened her at once. It seemed Wei Zhao truly was cultivating, not **blinded by desire** and bent only on taking advantage of her! She was rather pleased that Wei Zhao was cultivating with such drive—after all, the sooner Wei Zhao stood above the Xuandan Sect, the sooner the paper window between them could be torn through.

Until then, Wang Xinyan would never dare agree to anything, lest trouble arise and give Kang Zhaolong a reason to contact Kang Zhaoming and move against Wei Zhao.

Though Wei Zhao and she had grown closer now, Kang Zhaolong had promised in person that he would let the matter drop. To be sure, he had been forced into it when begging Wei Zhao to save him, but presumably Kang Zhaolong would not go back on his word so quickly.

In the blink of an eye, dinner time arrived. Bai Lingtou had the front desk call every room to notify the students to come down to the dining hall. Han Jingyi answered the phone; after hanging up, she set down her tablet and said to Wei Zhao and Wang Xinyan, "Brother Wei Zhao, Sister Xinyan, the front desk says it's time for dinner."

"Oh, all right." Wei Zhao returned from his cultivation to reality and let go of Wang Xinyan.

Though Wang Xinyan had been nervous and shy at first, Wei Zhao had done nothing to embarrass her afterward, so she had relaxed. Held in his arms, she had even felt a little cozy, and in the end had nearly dozed off. She opened her eyes hazily and sat up. "Ah... then let's go eat."

The three of them left the room, and just then Bai Weituo and He Meiyue were stepping out of theirs as well. A flush of crimson still lingered on He Meiyue's face, and no one could tell what the two had been up to inside.

Catching sight of Wei Zhao, Bai Weituo trotted over. "Brother Lin."

"Kid, did you and Meiyue make it official?" Wei Zhao asked in a lowered voice, seeing how jubilant Bai Weituo looked.

"Heh, not yet, but she let me kiss her..." Bai Weituo said excitedly. "Who'd have thought the resort's cable TV had that kind of program on it! Meiyue and I watched for a while and just couldn't help ourselves, though she wouldn't let me go any further..."

"Heh." Wei Zhao chuckled and clapped Bai Weituo on the shoulder. "Has Teacher Bai agreed to the two of you?"

"Grandpa didn't object. He said as long as I like her, it's fine," Bai Weituo said.

Wei Zhao said nothing more. As for He Meiyue, she struck him as frighteningly shrewd. Bai Weituo, though no fool, was comparatively simple and honest, and Wei Zhao could not tell whether being with He Meiyue would prove a blessing or a curse.

Kang Zhaolong and You Panhu emerged as well, except Kang Zhaolong had made himself up entirely anew—not only washed, but his hair combed to the last strand, and he had changed into a fresh set of leather clothes. What surprised Wei Zhao was that the injuries on his face had healed completely.

Wei Zhao was only briefly surprised. With a walking medicine cabinet like You Panhu at his side, procuring some pills for rapid healing was no trouble at all. A single second-grade Lesser Restoration Pill could heal every injury on Kang Zhaolong's body.

"Wei Zhao, about down in the valley earlier—thank you, truly!" Kang Zhaolong walked over and addressed Wei Zhao of his own accord.

"?" Wei Zhao glanced at Kang Zhaolong, tempted to ask if he had lost his mind, but said nothing.

In truth, Kang Zhaolong's show of goodwill was a stopgap forced upon him. After meeting with You Panhu, he had confirmed that the two cultivator robbers had indeed been elite fighters dispatched by the Hidden You family—one at the peak of late-stage Earth-rank, one at early-stage Heaven-rank—and that one was dead and one wounded. Wei Zhao's strength was truly formidable!
