Chapter 1846 — Striking Again

The Blossom Guardian

Before long, that second mass of fire-poison true qi had also been driven by Wei Zhao to the very end of the meridians in his right palm, where it merged with the first, forming an even larger mass of fire-poison true qi!

What followed was merely a matter of copying the same pattern. So long as he had perseverance, he could gather every last trace of the fire-poison true qi in his body together.

Yu Liu returned to the Hidden Yu family somewhat dejected. Yu Xiaochen did not blame him, yet the loss of such a heaven-sent opportunity still left him deeply regretful.

Afterward, Yu Xiaochen went to see the Yu family's Old Ancestor once more and recounted everything that had happened.

"Regrettable as it is, you did nothing wrong." The Yu family's Old Ancestor nodded and said gravely, "If Yu Liu had truly injured him... heh heh, then our Yu family would not have escaped involvement this time either!"

"Yes!" Yu Xiaochen nodded. "But isn't it a bit of a pity to simply give up the search for Wei Zhao?"

"Giving up is a pity, of course, but with only the strength of our Hidden Yu family, finding a man in Songshan City who is deliberately hiding is difficult beyond difficult!" said the Yu family's Old Ancestor. "Especially with Qiu Lingshan and Chen Yutian obstructing us at every turn, it becomes even more troublesome... But Wei Zhao's enemies are not limited to our Yu family alone. There are also the Hidden Zhao family and the Hidden You family. Bring them in as well and have them hunt for Wei Zhao together, and it will naturally be much easier!"

"Then what of the Qi Gathering Pill..." Yu Xiaochen was somewhat worried that the Qi Gathering Pill would fall into someone else's hands.

"Naturally we will not tell them about the Qi Gathering Pill. And when we make our move, we can agree that all three families will send their best men after Wei Zhao at the same time. That way, the responsibility borne by each of the three parties will be somewhat lessened, and I trust they will be glad to act alongside us!" said the Yu family's Old Ancestor.

"Good. We will do as you say, Father!" Yu Xiaochen nodded.

Never mind that the You family's earlier attempt to contact the Grand Elder had come to nothing — which of these hidden families was not made up of the craftiest of men? Though the threat posed by the Grand Elder and that person ought to be gone, these people all remained in a wait-and-see posture. Only after Yu Liu had gone out for a stroll and stirred up no trouble did they grow impatient enough to want to go out and take a look for themselves.

It so happened that a message arrived from the Yu family proposing a joint search for Wei Zhao, and of course they all agreed without hesitation.

Thus, for a time, people from the Hidden You family and the Hidden Zhao family also came to Songshan City and began inquiring after news of Wei Zhao amid the vast sea of humanity.

Of course, all of this was done in secret. After all, with Qiu Lingshan serving as captain of criminal investigation, any ostentatious move on their part would certainly bring word to her; and if Qiu Lingshan was in contact with Wei Zhao, she would warn him and the others at the first opportunity, putting them further on their guard — which would make tracking Wei Zhao down even harder.

These were hard days, and Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu toiled each day, yet were happy.

Though every day left them aching from head to toe, they never tired of it. Often, upon discovering an old cell phone or an old home appliance, they would leap for joy, strength flooding through them as they set off toward the next target, with the cries of the Heavenly Thunder Pig spurring them on.

Yet despite the hardship and exhaustion, each day they not only set aside Wei Zhao's medical fees but also found money for Gu Pengzhan's treatment. Nearly every two or three days, Gu Mengyao would wire ten or twenty thousand yuan to Uncle Qing.

The speed at which they earned money made even Uncle Qing click his tongue. Had he not known Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu so well, he would have thought they had taken up some disreputable trade. After all, two young women, while covering Wei Zhao's medical expenses, could still put aside five thousand to ten thousand yuan a day — what kind of work could possibly pay that?

It would be one thing if they were white-collar workers at a big company, but they had neither social experience nor a university degree. What company would pay them such a salary?

But since Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu said nothing, Uncle Qing did not ask, for he knew that Yaoyao and Xiaoshu were not the sort to be frivolous or loose.

"Today's earnings are about enough — nearly twenty thousand yuan!" Gu Mengyao was grinning from ear to ear. In the past, earning twenty thousand yuan might not have stirred even a flicker of emotion in her; after all, the Gu Group raked in gold by the day, and twenty thousand yuan was nothing at all.

But now she exulted over those twenty thousand yuan, because it was the money that would save Wei Zhao's life and her father's.

"Mm, I'm so happy! Heavenly Thunder Pig, you're amazing. From now on I'll have Brother Arrow upgrade you first, so you level up before Mighty General!" Promises cost nothing, so Shen Yushu was hardly stingy about making them to the Heavenly Thunder Pig.

Even so, that alone was enough to delight the Heavenly Thunder Pig. Mighty General, by contrast, was rather glum: clearly I am the senior brother and you are the junior brother, yet now the senior brother levels up more slowly than the junior brother!

"Chirp chirp!" The Heavenly Thunder Pig cast a smug glance at Mighty General and wiggled its little body in front of him as if showing off.

Next, after Wei Zhao concentrated the fire poison from his heart meridian and his head into his right palm, he was astonished to find that his long-lost connection with the outside world had actually returned. Though he still could not wake, he could clearly sense the scene beyond his body!

Wei Zhao was not surprised by this. He had previously relied on the perception of his heart meridian and his head to connect with the outside world; with the fire poison removed from those two places, the connection was naturally restored.

It was an unfamiliar room, shabbily furnished — one might even say entirely unfurnished. He himself lay on a very old iron folding bed, and beside it stood a somewhat worn table on which a few clothes and women's belongings were casually piled. At a glance Wei Zhao could tell that they belonged to Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu!

Beside the folding bed was a floor bed — that is, bedding and a quilt spread on the ground so a person could sleep there.

Presumably this was where Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu slept. Wei Zhao did not understand why he was sleeping in such a shabby place. Though it had been swept very clean — spotless, one might say — it was truly too run-down, not even the equal of Xixing Mountain Village.

Wei Zhao could hardly find anything like it in his memory.

Before long, just as Wei Zhao was puzzling over this, footsteps came from outside the room, along with the cheerful voices of Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu.
