Chapter 147 — The Long-Awaited...
Years of Heartflutter Page 302 of 501
Gu Jie naturally did not know that Zou Ruoguang's ultimate goal was to infect her with the AIDS virus he carried, and through her as a conduit pass it on to Wei Jin. Hearing his words, she merely assumed that Zou Ruoguang had just now, in the room, seen her and Wei Jin acting intimately and been seized by a sudden wicked urge. Thinking it would be only this once, she began to cooperate; following Zou Ruoguang's movements, she started to twist and sway her body and cry out loudly. "Damn, you really are wanton!" Zou Ruoguang listened to Gu Jie's moans, felt her skill, and thought to himself that she was far more gratifying than that little wench Zhao Xiaoyan—no wonder Wei Jin was so besotted with her.
But Zou Ruoguang did not dare indulge himself for long now; when it was over, he hurriedly put his clothes back on. He had come here on serious business, and naturally would not let the pursuit of pleasure delay important matters.
"We'll let today's business go at that," Zou Ruoguang said to Gu Jie once he was dressed. "I certainly won't tell. Weigh it for yourself."
With that, Zou Ruoguang pushed the door open and left Gu Jie's room. It had to be said that Zou Ruoguang had some cunning in him—it was only a question of whom he used it on. Against Yang Ce, it would probably have got him beaten to death before it did any good. But against a fool even stupider than Zou Ruoguang himself, like Wei Jin, it was absolutely effective.
Zou Ruoguang straightened his clothes, looked all around, and only when he was sure there was no flaw to be seen did he return to Wei Jin's room. The moment he entered, he saw Wei Jin with a dark face, listening to Sui Yuemin say something.
"What's wrong, Uncle? Cousin?" Zou Ruoguang asked, putting on an air of concern.
"The men Wei Jin hired—every one of them has been beaten. They're lying at the entrance of the Immortal Resort; they can't even stand," Sui Yuemin said, repeating it now that Zou Ruoguang had come in. "If the resort's patrolling guards hadn't found them and notified me, I wouldn't even have known about it."
"Who did it? That Yang Ce?" Zou Ruoguang was taken aback and asked.
"We don't know yet, but it certainly wasn't Yang Ce himself who did it. According to a few of the lightly injured, a bunch of men in black of unknown origin rushed up and beat them half to death, without saying why or leaving any identification." Sui Yuemin shook his head. "But one of them remembered their license plate. I've already asked a friend to help look into it."
"How's Zhou Xiaoming?" Wei Jin's expression was very ugly—and no wonder. He had hired more than twenty thugs, and they had been beaten so badly they could not fight back at all. Anyone would be upset.
"He's hurt the worst. I'm afraid even after he recovers, he'll be lying in hospital for half a year or more." Sui Yuemin of course knew Zhou Xiaoming and knew he was a trusted man at Wei Dekang's side; they had had dealings before. When he had rushed over, Zhou Xiaoming had already been beaten beyond recognition, all four limbs broken.
Who knew what sort of people could be so ruthless, striking with such merciless force. But this only made Sui Yuemin more fearful. He had seen before that Yang Ce knew Tian Long, and now it seemed this Yang Yongjin must be some kind of underworld boss as well.
"Does my dad know about this?" Wei Jin sighed. With a mess this big, there was no hiding it from Wei Dekang.
"He knows. I've already notified President Wei—he's on his way here," Sui Yuemin said with a nod.
When Wei Dekang got Sui Yuemin's call, he was stunned for a long moment before he could collect himself. Zhou Xiaoming had been beaten half to death, all four of his limbs broken.
Wei Dekang simply could not take it in. Only that morning his driver, Ma Fengzi, had been put in the hospital, and now, barely any time later, another of his right-hand men was in a hospital bed too. Wei Dekang was nearly mad with rage. Even a dog deserves consideration for its master's face—and now two of his dogs had been crippled. How could he swallow such an insult?
Wei Dekang cursed under his breath. At a time like this, that brat Wei Jin had still gone and stirred up trouble for him. But when he learned that Wei Jin had been beaten as well, Wei Dekang's fury became absolute.
He roared into the phone, "Who is it? Who has the gall to lay a hand on Wei Dekang's son?"
"I'm not too clear on it either. Seems to be the boyfriend of a girl who was in Wei Jin's class in middle school." Sui Yuemin did not fully understand the conflict between them either.
Wei Dekang had always been fiercely protective of his own. Now his son and his trusted men had all been beaten—if he still sat by and did nothing, he might as well never show his face around Songjiang again.
Wei Dekang called the company's motor pool for a car and sped off toward the Xianren Resort at Xixing Mountain.
Meanwhile, at the same moment that Wei Dekang received Sui Yuemin's call, Yang Shuoxuan received a call from Zhang Penbai.
"Brother Yang, it's done," Zhang Penbai said.
"Nothing went wrong, I hope?" With Chen Shutang beside him, Yang Shuoxuan could not ask outright whether anyone had died, and could only hint obliquely.
Fortunately Zhang Penbai was no fool. Hearing Yang Juehuan's words, he answered, "Nobody dead. But that leader of theirs probably won't be getting out of bed for six months."
"Good, very good. I'll remember this." With that, Yang Yanzhou hung up.
On the other end, Zhang Penbai was beside himself with excitement. Since Yang Ce had said he would remember it, that meant he would be promoted at the first good opportunity. How could Zhang Penbai not be thrilled?
By now, however, Yang Jiyan had already begun turning his thoughts to Wei Jin. From the look of him, Wei Jin did not seem the type to swallow a loss quietly—and the fellow was related by marriage to the Sui family besides. Even that Zou Ruoguang character repaid every slight, let alone this Wei Jin.
Yang Ce was not afraid of him, but always waiting to be provoked before striking back made him seem a bit too merciful. Damn it—his disdain for petty quarrels was being taken for weakness.
To be continued.
929. The Reason to Move Against the Wei Family
929. The Reason to Move Against the Wei Family. The feeling unsettled Yang Ce, and to shake it off, he decided that this time he would not wait for the enemy to come knocking—he would first sound out the true depths of this Wei family.
Otherwise, by the time Wei Jin came looking for him, he still would not even know whose camp the man belonged to.
"Liu Baoqiang, do you know just what sort of background this Wei Jin's family has?" Back in the city, the four of them found a small café and sat down to rest.
"His dad seems to be the head of some real estate company. I can't remember the exact name of the company." Liu Baoqiang said a little sheepishly, "You know how it is—he and I don't get along, and I don't talk to him much, so naturally I don't know the details."
"I see." This was information Yang Ce had already obtained, but there were twenty or thirty real estate companies in Songjiang if there was one, and Yang Minlan was not well versed in that industry either—there was no way to put a name to a face on the spot.
"Oh, right—I remember a while back, Wei Jin bragged to us at school that the shantytown near the development zone had been taken over by his father's company, to be developed into high-end luxury apartments. According to him, they'd make hundreds of millions in one go."
"Dekang Real Estate—Wei Dekang?" At Liu Ting's words, Yang Xutang blurted it out.
"I think it was something like 'Kang.' That should be it—Dekang Real Estate," Liu Ting said with a nod.
