Chapter 147 — The Long-Awaited...

Years of Heartflutter Page 366 of 501

"Then let's go. There's nothing here in this room to test with. Find a quiet place—you hide first, then come at me with a lethal strike." Yang Ce looked around the room, then spoke.

"A lethal strike? Aren't you afraid I'll actually kill you?" Wang Yanqiu said teasingly.

"Heh, if you're not afraid of really becoming the Black Widow, then go ahead and kill me." Yang Ce chuckled and patted Wang Yanqiu's perky rear.

"Don't touch me—I'm exhausted all over." Wang Yanqiu said languidly. "It's all your fault. You didn't warn me earlier, and I screamed so loud my throat is killing me."

"I thought you were enjoying it." Yang Ce blinked.

"Get lost!" Wang Yanqiu was so angry she raised her foot to kick Yang Ce—the room's lights were off anyway, pitch black. Though she wore no clothes, she was not afraid of being seen.

What Wang Yanqiu did not know, however, was that Yang Ce actually had night vision. The moment she lifted her leg, a flash of springtime splendor met Yang Ce's eyes in perfect clarity.

The two of them romped about on the bed a while longer before finally climbing out of it. Both were professional assassins with exceptionally tough constitutions, and they quickly recovered their strength; Wang Yanqiu once again put on her black night-operations suit.

"When you have time, take me to see your headquarters," Yang Shuoxuan said to Wang Yanqiu once he was dressed.

"Mm, of course. You're a member of the hit squad now, aren't you?" Wang Yanqiu nodded and readily agreed. Then something occurred to her, and she asked, "By the way, Yang Ce, you're on good terms with Baolin, aren't you?"

"Mm, yes, we get along well. Why do you ask?" Yang Yanchuan said.

Wang Yanqiu hesitated a moment, but went on: "Earlier, one of our brothers from the assassin team was caught while carrying out a mission."

"Wu Ming." Yang Ce remembered the man at once. It had been Wu Ming who sabotaged the brake system of the BMW, and precisely because of that, Yang Juehuan's ability had given him a warning.

"Yes, that's right. His code name was Wuming. You know him?" Wang Yanqiu's face lit up. She had not had news of Wu Ming for a long time—after all, he was a pillar of the assassin team, and it would be a great pity to lose him.

"Oh, I caught him. The kid had some nerve. Right before he died, he was still threatening me, saying the Black Widow assassin team would never let me off." Yang Xutang laughed afterward.

"What? He's dead? You killed him?" Wang Yanqiu was startled and looked at Yang Ce with some resentment, though she also knew that the two men had once walked different paths, and that Yang Ce moving against Wu Ming was only natural.

"You know my car, don't you?" Yang Ce walked to the window, pointed at the BMW X5 parked in the villa's courtyard, and said, "Wu Ming sabotaged this car's brake system back then. If I hadn't been careful, you'd never have seen me again."

Wang Yanqiu nodded, but only sighed before saying, "Forget it. Let's not bring up the past. From now on, don't make things hard for them."

"What do you mean, I hadn't finished speaking?" Yang Xutang laughed at Wang Yanqiu's presumptuous words.

"The dead are to be respected. Don't speak ill of him anymore," Wang Yanqiu said, shaking her head.

"The dead are to be respected—respected my ass!" Yang Ce cut in.

"You—" Wang Yanqiu was instantly angry and gave a cold snort. "Yang Ce, you are not to insult my assassin team's brother!"

"Insult? What insult? Would you let me finish?" Yang Moyi was caught between laughter and tears. "That Wu Ming isn't dead yet."

"Not dead? Then why did you say 'right before he died'?" Wang Yanqiu was stunned and stared at Yang Ce in astonishment.

"When I said 'right before he died,' I meant right before he died—but I didn't want him to die, so how could he? Afterward Yang Xutang smiled mysteriously. "He wanted to kill himself, so of course I tied him up."

"Then he's now—" Wang Yanqiu finally let out a breath of relief, inwardly cursing Yang Yanzhou for speaking in such fits and starts.

"Probably at Buyetian right now." Yang Ce thought for a moment and said, "Don't worry, little Yanyan. We'll all be on the same side from now on. I'll tell Bao Lin tomorrow to let him go back—or now, if you like. I just don't know whether Bao Lin is still awake."

With that thought, Yang Ce took out his phone and called Bao Lin. Bao Lin answered quickly, clearly not yet asleep. Once he picked up, he asked, "Brother Yang, is there something you need me for?"

"Baozi, let me ask you something. Do you remember that fellow named Wu Ming we caught? Is he still there?" Yang Yanchuan said. "He's not dead, is he?"

"He's still here, locked up in the Buyetian nightclub." Bao Lin answered at once: "Brother Yang, without your word we didn't dare dispose of him however we liked, so we just brought him a bit of food every day, forced him to eat it, and otherwise left him alone. Though these past few days he's actually put on quite a bit of weight."

Yang Ce broke out in a sweat. If Wang Yanqiu hadn't brought this up, he himself would have nearly forgotten the fellow. At this rate, they might well end up supporting the man for the rest of his life.

"Yeah. Let him go. Send him back," Yang Yanzhou said.

"Let him go?" Bao Lin was stunned. "Now?"

"What, are you not at Buyetian?" Yang Yanchuan said.

"I am, I am. It's nothing, I'm just a little puzzled—why suddenly let him go?" Bao Lin muttered to himself in confusion.

"Heh, I've reached an agreement with his boss. From now on we're all on the same side, of course. If we're not letting him go, why keep him?" Yang Hengye explained.

Yang Puqi would not normally explain himself easily to Bao Lin, but today he had just finished off Wei Dekang and was in high spirits, so he said a few extra words to Bao Lin. As for Bao Lin, seeing that Yang Ce had gone out of his way to explain things to him, he was thrilled beyond measure.

"All right, Brother Yang. I'll go let him out right now." Having said that, Bao Lin grew a little worried: "Brother Yang, what if he won't leave, and instead turns around and tries to kill me? You know as well as anyone that the fellow is pretty formidable—even Da Hou is no match for him."

"How about this: when you get to him in a bit, put the phone to his ear and I'll have his boss talk to him," Yang Ce said after a moment's thought.

"That would be wonderful!" Bao Lin said, and headed with the phone toward the room where Wu Ming was held.

After this period of tempering, Wu Ming had cried to heaven with no answer and to earth with no response. Apart from someone bringing him food on schedule, no one paid him any attention, and so his formerly irascible temper had improved quite a bit.

Now, seeing the door open and Bao Lin walk in, he found it a little strange, but said nothing—he only looked coldly at Bao Lin.

"Wu Ming, your boss wants to talk to you." Bao Lin pressed the phone to Wu Ming's ear.

"My boss? How could my boss possibly call you?" Wu Ming finally managed to say in great surprise.

"I don't know either. Listen for yourself," Bao Lin said, holding the phone with an air of having nothing to do with it.

Wu Ming had no choice but to say into the phone, "Hello, who is this?"

"Wuming, in a little while they'll release you. Go straight back to headquarters," Wang Yanqiu's voice came through the phone.

"Chief!" Wu Ming was instantly stunned, and his voice changed pitch on the spot, for he was truly astonished—he simply could not fathom how the chief could be calling Bao Lin.

"Yes. From now on we're all on the same side. Go back to headquarters and wait for me there," Wang Yanqiu instructed Wu Ming.

"What?" Wu Ming looked at Bao Lin in confusion, then said into the phone, "Chief, you mean we're on the same side as Bao Lin and them?"

"That's right. We'll discuss the rest when you're back at headquarters. Don't worry, they won't make things hard for you anymore," Wang Yanqiu said.
