Chapter 147 — The Long-Awaited...

Years of Heartflutter Page 225 of 501

"Sir, I am Wang Dianxue, the general manager here. I hope you will show mercy and let us off the hook." Circumstances forced a man to bow his head, and Wang Dianxue had no choice but to speak in a conciliatory tone.

"Show mercy? And what sort of mercy would that be?" Yang Jiyan gave a cold laugh. "Your casino opens for business, and I come to gamble. How is there any question of showing mercy or not showing mercy?"

"Sir, let's not beat around the bush. This young lady—you're the daughter of the Huawei Casino, aren't you?" Wang Dianxue said, looking at Huang Yan.

Yang Puqi was startled; he had not expected Huang Yan to be recognized. He had wanted to keep playing a while longer, but now that her identity was exposed, there was no need to continue. The other side had softened, which meant it was time to start negotiating terms.

"Hmph. Since you know, then it doesn't matter." Yang Linyue spoke indifferently. "Your advisor came to play at our casino, so naturally I can come and play at yours."

"Sir, we were in the wrong before. I've already ordered Yu Deyi to concede and come back on his own. Please let us off," Wang Dianxue said, a man under another's eaves who had no choice but to bow his head.

"Let you off?" Yang Moyi said with some amusement. "Fine. In that case, I'll be going."

"Then thank you very much." Wang Dianxue was stunned; he had not expected Yang Cenbin to be so agreeable.

"Nothing to thank me for. The money I've won—just deposit it directly into my card." Yang Puqi pointed at the chips on the table.

"What?" Wang Dianxue nearly lost his footing and fell to the ground. How was this any different from not letting them off? If they paid out this money, the Nancheng Casino would have no fate left but bankruptcy. To be continued.

872. Accepting the Challenge

872. Accepting the Challenge "What, you want to welsh on the debt now?" Yang Ce pointed at the chips on the table and gave a cold snort. "Don't tell me you can't afford to pay."

"This—sir, look, shouldn't one be forgiving where one can?" Wang Dianxue suppressed his resentment and said cautiously.

"What do you mean, forgiving where one can? I've already let you off." Yang Yongjin said contemptuously. "If I kept gambling, your casino would be bankrupt and done for within an hour at most."

"But if we pay you the money, how is that any different from bankruptcy?" Wang Dianxue said with a bitter smile.

"Is that so? So you don't want to pay. Then I'll call the Gaming Inspection Bureau and file a complaint right now." Yang Juehuan's voice was quite flat, yet it gave Wang Dianxue a start.

The Gaming Inspection Bureau was the regulatory, supervisory, and inspection body for the gaming industry. Yang Ce had not cheated or broken any rules while gambling, so once the Bureau intervened, the arbitration would invariably come out in Yang Cenbin's favor.

Ordinary tourists rarely knew enough to file complaints, but in Wang Dianxue's view, Huang Yan's family ran a casino—how could her boyfriend not know this? Yet Yang Ce had not actually learned it from Huang Yan, but from the disc Fang Tian had given him earlier.

"Sir, since we've both laid our cards on the table, let's speak practically. Your aim isn't really these winnings, is it?" Wang Dianxue said cautiously.

"Heh. Fine—I'm a soft-hearted man," Yang Ce said mildly, looking at Wang Dianxue. "How about this: two conditions. If you think you can accept them, then accept. If not, there's nothing I can do."

Seeing that there was still room to maneuver, Wang Dianxue said hurriedly, "What conditions?"

"The winnings—I can forgo part of them, but I certainly can't forgo them entirely." Yang Ce pointed at the chips on the table. "I don't act lightly, but when I do, I certainly can't go home empty-handed."

"I understand." Wang Dianxue nodded. "Go ahead, sir. How much?"

"Half. That's the limit of what I can accept." Yang Ce roughly estimated the number of chips on the table. "Right now it's about eighty-odd billion. I'll take half—forty billion."

Wang Dianxue drew a deep breath. Forty billion—that was enough to ruin a man, though at most it meant giving up the savings of many years; it would not fundamentally affect the casino's normal operations.

As long as the green mountain remains, there's no worry about firewood. If Yang Ce went back on his word and complained to the Gaming Inspection Bureau, then it would no longer be a matter of forty billion.

"All right." Wang Dianxue nodded and agreed. "What is the other condition?"

"Move out of the Huawei Casino's five-kilometer radius," Yang Ce said lightly.

"What? Move the casino?" Wang Dianxue was dumbfounded; he had not expected Yang Juehuan's second condition to be this.

"There. Those are my two conditions. If you agree, then so be it. If not, it doesn't matter either." Yang Ce set Huang Yan down from his arms and rose to his feet.

"All right, I agree." Wang Dianxue gritted his teeth. Compared with that forty billion being shaved off, how much could moving a casino possibly cost? Though it might mean choosing a new site and rebuilding its clientele from scratch, weighed against the alternative, it was still worth it.

"Since you're so forthright, we won't need to sign any agreement. But it doesn't matter if you break your word—I'll just drop by your casino every now and then for a bit of fun." Yang Ce shrugged, his tone not without menace.

Wang Dianxue said nothing. The man had come, and he could only endure it—he did not even have anyone to pit against him. If he were to go to their casino and challenge them in return, Zheng Shaopeng might be able to hold his own for a while, but if this man in front of him took the floor, defeat would be certain.

"Deposit the money for this gentleman," Wang Dianxue instructed his secretary.

"Very good, sir. May I see your identification? I'll help you open a bank card," the secretary said.

"Lele, use your ID for it," Yang Ce said, turning to Huang Yan.

"Oh, all right." Huang Yan produced her ID and handed it to Yang Ce, though she was not in the least pleased that the money was being deposited under her name.

It could now be said that, if Yang Ce wished it, he could obtain money through any number of channels—but the funds in his bank account were already more than sufficient, and he had no need whatsoever to think of ways to amass more wealth.

Yang Ce handed Huang Yan's ID directly to Wang Dianxue's secretary, who nodded and set about handling the matter.

Beyond her astonishment, all Wang Mei felt was envy for Huang Yan. Yang Puqi had casually produced forty billion and, without so much as blinking, deposited it under Huang Yan's name.

Originally, Wang Dianxue had assumed that Yang Ce was with Huang Yan for the sake of the Huang family's assets, but now it seemed the man did not even deign to glance at a few tens of billions. Then again, it made sense—a gambling expert of Yang Cenbin's caliber, would he ever lack for money?

"Miss Huang, here is the bank card. The forty billion has already been transferred into it," the secretary said, handing the card to Huang Yan.

Huang Yan took the card and was about to give it to Yang Ce, but Yang Jiyan waved his hand and said, "Just keep it with you."

Even though Huang Yan cared little for money, she knew that forty billion was an enormous sum. The fact that Yang Ce was willing to leave it with her showed that she still mattered a great deal to him, and at the thought, she could not help feeling a little delighted.

Just then, Yu Deyi returned, his face dark as a thundercloud. Catching sight of Wang Dianxue, he walked straight over: "President Wang, what on earth is going on? I was about to beat Zheng Shaopeng—Huawei Casino could have shut down for a month!"
